I used to have a 2000 29 Fever with a HP500 carb. Prop was labbed and timing advanced and on a light load light chop on the water I could hit 74. Norm was more like 72.7-73.

I sold it back in late 2003 and they guy that bought it put a blower motor in it and I thin was hitting upwards of 90mph.

I had a 98 27 w/ carb. 500 H.P. It ran 73 on its best day. You have a blown 509, and are running 77. Something does'nt sound right. Running your numbers you are at almost 18% slip. Thats pretty high. Heat will effect H.P., but your slip will only get worse as your hp goes up. Is your prop ok. Who did the lab work.

Is anybody running a 5 blade on their single 27 or 29? If so, how do you like the handling and what not?

Hey FeverMike I have your old boat, no longer a blower motor in it back to carbed 500. That boat must be bad luck for its owners and their legs. I slipped coming off the engine hatch to the rear seat, and ended up hitting the floor straight legged. I ended up shattering the top of my tibia. Two surgeries later, I am sitting in my living room staring out the window at the beautiful weather. I'm just thankful for good pain meds. My wife kept telling me I used to much vinyl conditioner on the interior, but I have to keep it like new. The boat still looks, and runs like new, just can't use it for a few more weeks.

Hey bleek, always good to know where my 29 Fountain is. I LOVED that boat, took unbelievable care of it. It is a solid built boat. I bought it new November 3 1999 at Intercoastal Marine in Sarasota.

Post of some pics of my old baby!

Prop is brand new from bblades. The rpm/mph I listed might be off a bit, but not much. I think the prop is closer to 26.5-27

03 with a 525.........."stock"

79.5 mph turning a 30" Hydro QIV...............but on 7 cylinders (broken piston) Fixed and sold after the cool weather had come and gone. Engine guy was thinking she could run 86 on his setup and based on how she did with only 7 cylinders, I have to agree. But she's gone now.

Before the mods, she ran 77.6 on a 26" B1. And that was on a summer's day, loaded down. It was saw 81 in March of 06.

Default Whipple

Anyone ever seen a 525 with a Whipple? What top speed would that produce?
