We will need more information to help. Whos 28P? Bravo 1, Hydromotive. How many blades? How are you getting on plane? Are you using tabs, where is the drive trimmed? It could be just a simple adjusment in the way you get on plane. Usually the 29 gets on plane pretty well. Not many Fountains are going to jump on plane like a ski boat. The drives are mounted to high.

If top speed is not a factor, just drop to a 26 bravo or even a 24 bravo, you will spin higher rpms taking off and will pop out out but will loose top end.
YES if you hammer it coming up, like WOT you can/will break the outdrive. Just imagin a 525 hp car taking off in third gear, that is what your boat is doing all day.

My 2006 29 Fever came with a 26P LH B1 prop from the factory. Planes fairly quickly (for a single engine fountain) and tops out at 79 mph on gps. It can/will hit the rev limiter with light loads and cooler weather, though. I've thought about trying a 28P but don't want to give up the easier planing. The test sheet for my boat lists the X dimension at 19". Fountain must have lowered the X a little in mid 2005, because the 2003, 2004 and some 2005 525EFI 29' Fever test sheets that I have, list the X at 19 1/2" . Where we boat, there are not really a lot of opportunities to really run near/at WOT, anyways, so attaining absolute top speed doesn't really matter as much to me.

I replaced the batteries with oddssey pc925s that saved me over 50 lbs in the eng compartment & I put 50 lbs of ballast in the anchor locker . I run a 525 tabs down & drive in 28 pith prop & I am very happy with it . Made a huge diff changing the batteries & adding some fwd ballast .

Lot of people told me I was crazy wanting twin screws in my 29, but with two 28's in the water and two 420hp Merc's it pops right out - even with the extra engine weight and fully loaded.
Despite all the slams on twins in a 29, for me there's enough advantages to outweigh the disadvantages - this being one of them.
Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I have a 01 29 with a 500 EFI and have a 24 B1 that I use for heavier loads because it gets on plane real well and a 24P hydro for top speed and light loads. I have been playing with a 26P B1 and that prop is awesome on my boat, I'm getting like 6% prop slip last I checked.

I have both a 26P & a 28P with a lefty drive.
The boat came with the 26P & I am happy with that.
I can go 80 but most of the time I cruise at 45-50.
I don't care that much for my 28P because it is indeed a process to get on step.
I'd recommend a 26P before screwing with changing tabs.
Keep the water tank dry & these days it is easy to run with less than a full tank of fuel...
