Default Want to improve hole shot on 29' Fountain

Hi, I'm a newbie with a 2005 29' Fountain, 525EFI, XR drive, 28P prop. I typically run with 5 adults and gas tank at least half full. The hole shot/time to plane is terrible. I'm willing to sacrifice top speed for improved hole shot. Any suggestions on a different prop or anything else I can do. Thanks in advance!

We will need more information to help. Whos 28P? Bravo 1, Hydromotive. How many blades? How are you getting on plane? Are you using tabs, where is the drive trimmed? It could be just a simple adjusment in the way you get on plane. Usually the 29 gets on plane pretty well. Not many Fountains are going to jump on plane like a ski boat. The drives are mounted to high.

Well, let me start by saying, TABs, TABs, TABs. Took me a while to figure it out too. Drive all in, tabs all down. Loaded down its still gonna be a dog out of the hole. Running a 28p Bravo on the exact setup as you. Gets better when there is a half a tank of fuel and just one or two in the boat. Move 'em around to balance. 3 on your tabs is even with the bottom of the boat. Just play with it, you'll get it figured out.

See if a prop house let you try some different ones. Could go with a 26P Bravo 1 but you could start hitting the rev limiter on the upper end, but will help get out of the hole.

29's are notoriously hard to plane. Tabs all the way down and drives all the way in (but that's any perf V really).

Interesting. Is it sufficient to change the plates, or is it more complicated (pistons, mechanical indicators, anything else?)
And are the plates alone available as spare parts?

You can change just the plates themselves, everything else is the same. And yes you can purchase just the plates, or watch the classifieds, occsionaly a set will pop up. Or contact me and I can explain how to achieve the same effect / result for a fraction of the money.
