Default 47 Prop selection

I know different years the drives were raised and lowered by Fountain to make this answer a little more difficult but...
Anyone with trips running Hydromotive P5 or P5x or P5x+ with any luck? running XR with 1.5 ratio.
What is the concensus when buying new props.
Hydromotive is close to me and exchanges for a small fee to dial in you selection.

Just wondering if a 4 blade would be better of any other make/model that proven to several ownwers.

Thanks for the input,

Ken

Default props changes

Ran the 31" P5x Hydros and found high slip (21%) in the midrange but slip would come down the higher the rpm. Could only spin them to 5100-5200. Below 3000 rpm boat started to fall off plane.
I returned them (with alot of grief from Todd) and bit the 10% restocking fee.
Didnt see any reason for them over bravos1 32"

Now waiting on a set of 30" Hering 5 blades with a slight change in rake angle. Should be a few more weeks before I get them.
Will post results.

Any issues with 2002 models? Looking at a triple 500 EFI boat wondering what I'm getting myself in for this time

Any bottom changes thru the years?

What can I expect for top end with 500 EFI's?

Default models change

I hear the late 90''s and for the next handful of years
Fountain kept raising the drive heights until customer boats would be too hard to get on plane.
With the newer 5-6 blades coming out they were all about top end and still put 4 blades on them (since they are fastest) but 5 blades are now catching up and getting good middle numbers too.

I imagine 500's it would run 80 ish is my guess. I am curious to the drive heights of the later models and what props they are running too.

Default Speed ?

Cole One,
Hi,
I cant imagine youre boat would go anywhere near 88 with 10 people and fuel. Thats conservative at 15200 lbs with that motor package and B1 props.
Anyone else run a setup like this?
Just think something does not add up is my thoughts.

28 pitch Bravo I's turing 5,300 I saw 82 GPS this weekend. Full of fuel and water. Boat pops right up on plane. Even left the drives at 3.5 once and it came right up.

Default Herings 30 5blade

I had my first chance to run them Sat. and came up with great numbers for starting baseline.
Running 30" 5 blade 15-1/2" on the outside and a 15-1/4 in the middle.
Talking to Jeff at Hering he wants to have me run them with a bit more trim than I had (neutral) but Dash mount GPS and Livorsi speedo (speedo was 1-2 mph slow at times) numbers proved to be:
3500@ 52mph
4000@ 65mph,
4500@ 79mph and topped out at
5350@ 93 mph! (gps, 92 Livorsi)
Boat has triple 575sci's. These slip numbers were sooo much better than Hydromotives 31" P5X's as well as (my stock 32") 4 blade Bravo 1 which BOTH peaked around the 84-86mph range.
I have many test passes that show repeatability but will see what happens with more trim angle.
The Herings have good planing and holds the boat higher at lower RPM's.
Also has trimability to raise the bow which the P5X cant do.
Unbelivable props!
Ken
