ATTENTION BAJA OWNERS/SUPPORTERS IN THIS THREAD.

This thread is in the "Fountain" section of OSO and the thread
is about Reggie's leaving and what "Fountain" owners
think about it.

When Brunswick gave Baja to Reggie back in 08'
and we were whining about that back then, the Fountain
guys didn't bother us.....let them discuss this matter amongst themselves.

....... And for what it's worth, I'm not a Fountain fan.;)

Thank You!

I was just looking thru the last few pages here and thinking I should make a comment to try to get this back on track. You are right on target here, much like the threads about things when Brunswick sold Baja to Fountain. Some thought it was good, some not so good.

I was thinking that the original deal here was that you needed to be In before you could get Out.

As far as not being a Fountain fan, I can respect that. I have always said that if we all wanted the same boat there would be one boat. We would all have one of them. ;)

Again, thank you.
Ragged

Handling and speed, yes, it's impressive, but thats about all he's got. But yeah, Reggie didn't engineer the hull nor hand lay the glass.

I do agree it's sad that the new company is going to make profit their #1 priority over the enjoyment of the great sport of powerboating.

Here it is, what accelerated all this.
I heard a rumor reggie left. I went stright to the fountain section to see if it was true. Never been here before and while reading this thread I was shocked how brainwashed fountain owners are! So I thought I answered the original question, in a fun and joking manner, also saying positive comments sticking up for fountain, reggie, and the sucky situation with the new owners. I admit I did not understand the original question was for fountain owners only. I still agree with everything I wrote. I love all powerboats and the lifestyle that goes with it. I feel proud that I did not personally attack anyone like I have been. I started all this so I am ending it. Never will I come back to the fountain section and feel welcome. Please now go on and enjoy your emotional hugging and counsleing session all fountain owners need to deal with this news. Anyone who wants to enjoy my funny, happy, smiling comments come on over to the general boating discussion area. Thanks!:drink:

If this boat was on "The Rough Lake" you'd have been pulled over and following a pen tip with your eyes. :lolhit:

But with that being said... AWESOME TRANSOM!!! :evilb:

Back to the regularly scheduled programing.

Call it what you want...I call it loyalty / pride in ownership. I am on my 3rd one at age 33. I have spent a lot of time in my friends boats of all makes and models....still come back to Fountains....what nobody has mentioned about a Founatin, is if you want to run in the rough water, you have to get on top of the waves.....:coolcowboy: Fountains loves to be on top of the waves:)

DollaBill 01-25-2011 06:34 AM

All my Fountains were run in the Atlantic Ocean. No lakes, no rivers, NO BS. The 42 is the best handling hull in that water in it's class. Cig, OL etc.

dewayne6243 01-25-2011 08:53 AM

My 33 outlaw is one of the best Baja hulls made, fits ME perfect, is paid off (I am 27), fast, reliable, handles, etc. Has a huge extended cockpit with room for 10 (not 5 like a fountain).

Thanks for calling me a hater. I also am not putting down fountains just calling them junk (one step above bayliner!)
You also must have not read any of my positive comments throughout this thread.[/QUOTE]

I figured you were around 18.

I will put my "junk" up next to urs anyday.

Cmon man. You have came in here from the get go, bashing Fountains. Making references as to the size of them, outdated look, quality, etc. You mentioned as a dig, that reggie used "merc" power. ok. So he did. Let me ask you, when was the last time you saw a baja sporting some #6 speedmasters hanging off the back? Or Any speedmaster style drive? How about a 1075/#6 package in a outlaw?

Would you go to a local car show, and look at a mint restored 1970 LS6 chevelle, and start telling the owner what "junk" his car is, and how your 1968 VW bug is better in every way?

I'll say it again, Baja makes a nice boat. But take it from a guy only a couple years older than you, who has owned several big offshore boats. What makes a offshore boat a great boat is how its put together. Period. I dont give a $hit about the color of dash panels, graphics, i-pods and I-pads. What i care about is stringer construction, deck to hull joints, bottom design, overall rigging, and of course the correct power setup.

I say this because if all the above isnt there, what you end up with is a big pile of junk. I am not a fan of hull to deck joints secured by wood screws and glue, engine mounts bolted to stringers by wood lag screws, offering a 70+mph boat from the factory with cable steering.

You say go ride in a 33 Fountain, then come ride in yours, and one would be impressed. Maybe. I would love to see you run with "10X" side by side in his outdated, old, small, 33FT Fountain. I have seen him first hand run next to 38-46FT Cigarettes at 100+MPH in ROUGH lake michigan water.

No company has done more testing, tweaking, and tuning on their hulls more than Fountain that i can think of. EVERY boat they built, whether it had stock power or big power, got dropped in the water, and sea trialed, and the new owner got his own performance report of that hull.

Maybe you can give one of your chicks on the boat a tube of super glue and a screw gun to make sure your deck stays put when the water gets rough! :drink::party-smiley-004:

LOL, here is offshorexcursion PM he sent me:

Its amazing that you did not understand my point. Please read the entire thread, so you can understand whats going on. Seems like you just skimmed it, saw what you wanted, got jelous that I have a sweet boat thats paid off, and started running your mouth. I have not personally attacked you so why are you attacking me. Especially when I admited my mistake (of responding to a "fountain owners only" thread). My comment about "junk" was being sarcastic because the others were calling my boat a bayliner (ie junk). COME ON, you know its better then a bayliner. I was just as shocked as everyone else that reggie left. I said plenty sticking up for the brand, and how horrible the situation is with the new investment company. I still am allowed my "opinion" on boats. If every boat was the same, boating would be pretty lame.

How about you go back through all my quotes and pick out the good, and say nice comments about it. Your boat sounds nice, but mine is also, especially for the price, and what I use it for, etc.

I tried to end all the personal attacks, and let the thread go back to the current fountain owners sharing their thoughts. Why do you have to continue it. It took a big man not to personally attack people back, admit my mistake, and leave the thread. Yes I PM'd you because I am so surprised you are keeping this negative tonned thread alive. Please delete your comment, apologize, or something to get that thread back on track.

Kevin

Guess what Kevin, my 47 Fountain is paid for also and the brand new King Ranch F350 pulling it. Grow up and take some spelling lessons.
