Nice looking boats, I still like the look of a fountain, beak and all.

That's pretty close.

We were actually running in Lake MI on a typical 4'+ day and I was in a 38 700/SSM 6 boat and could not run with a 42 600 boat. The 600 boat ran right at 90 and the 38 700 boat right at 114, get in 1-3's and it would be a different story.

When you get into real water as Downtown 42 has many times on Lake MI you will see how well a 42 really runs.

Regards,

Team Shogren

I believe from other people that have this combo they say right around 82-83 m.p.h.

As for rough, depends on if you hate fountains or not on how that will be answered. I do remember a post by Scott Shogren that said he was on a 38 fountain with 700’s in a run once and when it got snotty he couldn’t keep up with the 42 525 boats.

Rocky you need a 2005 or better for the slidding cabin door. Oh and then in 2007 the cockpit changed, might as well move up to that year. Shoot in 2008 the cuddy changed, you need a 2008!

Downtown did your old 42 sell to a guy in the TN area? I think my buddy at LOTO has it now?! Is that possible?

I think the 42' is one of the most over looked rough water boats out there. They are stellar in rough water, easy to manage boats!!!! I spent sometime behind the wheel of board member BZ's 42 this past summer and I was very impressed to say the least!!!!

Not to hyjack the thread but, where does the twin step 38 fall into line in terms of rough water capability and speed. How much better is it than a 35' and how much better is the 42'?

thanks
