And what kind of numbers did it run with the previous props?

Wildman_grafix 06-15-2011 08:40 PM

They DO look cool. Are you running short drives with them? What power do you have?

They are xr shorties sportmasters for drives with merc 525's.

Keep in mind that 91 mph was at just over 4900 rpm with 5 people in the boat and almost a full bellly of fuel......tank was ttoaly full and only had about 20 miles of running out of it when I ran that speed......seems pretty good to me.

Best I got out of it was 98mph with previous props, light on fuel and only two in the boat at 5200rpm

The "Reggie" number on the factory sheet is 102mph with 6 blade 31 herings.

Wildman_grafix 06-16-2011 08:34 AM

What was your goal for the 7 blades?

When you got the boat did you have the 6 blade 31's?

Overall how do you like the boat, I have wondered about these, seem like a nice size and shouldn't be bad working on it with the Staggered motors.

Speaking frankly, if you can only pull 4900 RPM out of a set of 525s then those props are just wrong for that boat and engine package. I'm sure Mercury racing would tell you the same thing. You should be running 5100-ish with a full load and 5250 with a light load. On a brutal hot humid July day you may only be able to pull 4800 out of them with that kind of load. The boat is over-propped with that set of 7 blades IMO.

Scott R. @ Merc Racing told me to shoot for the 52 -53 mark with an average load, claimed the 525's pull real hard right around that mark. With the current 5 blades I never see less than 5 regardless of load or weather. Actually the 4 blade Bravo's act pretty much the same. Good water and air I will turn over 5400 and it acts like it is still pulling well.
