Looking at a 1999 triple 42 with Hagedorn Motor Sports power that dyno'd 810hp each. How fast would the boat run?

Anyone heard of Hagedorn?

http://www.hagedornmotorsports.com/

It's a 100 hour boat IMCO boxes and bravo drives. On an aluminum Myco. Care to put a dime on it?

Bawana 02-18-2011 06:27 PM

My guess........... 120 in salt water. 116 fresh water under 1000 ft alt.

You're probably right on the money there. The acceleration will be unbelievable.

Back4More 02-18-2011 09:50 PM

Those blowers look like they are giving it all they got. 810HP with those might be over the edge. Before i stick my foot in my mouth any farther what CI are those?

575cat 02-19-2011 07:13 AM

mine was built as a tripple 750 boat [previous owner] and shogren said it ran approx 99, when it was rerigged as a staggered twin it ran a couple mph faster , for whatever that is worth .

They are 540's

Back4More 02-21-2011 12:20 PM

Man. With that setup, I wouldn't ask for more that 700 out of those for reliability reasons. But thats maybe cause I like to hang on them for a few minutes at a time.

notda1 02-21-2011 03:25 PM

sounds like a lot of power for those drives to handle

johnnyboatman 02-21-2011 03:42 PM

small 420 blowers, put on bigger dont turn ass hard

Back4More 02-21-2011 05:29 PM

Those are 250's...I would get rid of those and the innercoolers for 8-71's

Reggie 02-21-2011 08:10 PM

Did you sell the 47 Ed ?
Those motors should really rock that boat, you might get another plaque at the Shoot Out with that combo

Driveguy 02-21-2011 09:03 PM

Right

Right set up as twins faster.

Triple 525'sc were a handful for gas, wonder what 800's would be like?

47's not sold yet, had a few decent offers just not where we want to be at yet. You know me I'm always shopping!

With that said I'm going to pass on this deal. I was told it might be picked up for around $70k and it's on a Myco. I'm trying to get them to list it here. If anyone wants info on it PM me and I can point you in the right direction.

Motors were de-tuned after dyno runs to make them live and the entire package is low hour.

The wife and I bought this boat yesterday. Took it out and it runs very well.

I do have a few questions.

The boat has 2" IMCO shorties on it w/out splash plates. It's a little bit of a chore to get it up on plane. I'm wondering if I add the plash plates it will help? Righ now it's got four blade 30 pitch hydromotives on it.

It has the IMCO electric super fuel system and I can't find the switch! Guess I just need to follow the wires back? :lolhit:

420 Blower isn't small. A 871 is 436CI, just a bit larger than a 420CI B&M. The B&M is larger than a 671.

Doesnt matter because these are 250 Blowers. I can see by the pulley setup they are overdriving the heck out of them.

For a 540CI, I'd lose the 250's and put a larger 420, 871, blower on them. If you must run the 250's, change the oil often, and keep an eye on the bearings, cuz they will wear out fast.

Buddy called R3 and he said the fuel switches are wired to gauge selectors. He was correct, the pins were pulled so you could see the arms move. I got them put back in and all is right there.

Changed out the wheel and did some cleaning on the blowers. I'm making 5# with this set up. Going to check pulley numbers and get the next size. Lot's of chrome in the engine compartment once I started cleaning. After market heads, studs, MSD boxes, etc. Pretty nice set up.

jeff32 05-25-2012 06:19 AM

you bought for 70k? that's a good deal!

I got a good deal on the boat, but I'm going to have some money and sweat equity into it getting it 100%. It needed some TLC and a few odds and ends then I'll list it. They said it ran 116 when the motors were at 800hp I'd like to see that out of it before it's gone.

Yesterday I got a box from Fountain (hatch lift arm, etc) and Gail threw the performance report in the box. It ran 87 GPS with 500hp's with 1.36 gears and 15.5 x 25 Hydro's

Congrats!

Are you lowering or rasing the boost?

The fountain test sheet is nice, but sometimes inflated. Mine lists 98 mph hahaha

I think they need turned back up to 800hp. It's my understanding they were lowered to make them last longer. I'll do some research on the motors and check pulley sizes before I do much.

I need some seat time in the boat, I've only had it six days.

Reggie 05-25-2012 07:50 PM

Looking good, bet she's a screamer for sure.

endeavor1 06-01-2012 08:05 PM

Whats the latest with boat Eddie. How hard will she run?

Haven't leaned on it yet, getting some seat time and checking it all out. It needs drive/tab indicator cables before its ran hard. Should have them replaced next week. It's quick runs 40 at 2,400.

Nice boat, I have a guy in Acapulco, with a triples in a 47, we have been talking about converting the 525s to 540s with about 750 hp.
One comment; I would be concerned with the breather hose sizing coming off the valve cover, if thats what Iam seeing.

The hoses run to puke tanks, you think they are too small? I think it's 1/2 hose.

eddie 06-09-2012 10:39 AM

Put IMCO splash plates on the drives gets on plane great now. I'm wondering if it would make the boat carry the bow some or I just didn't notice it before?

Getting use to the boat before I run the props off it. Haven't ran it wide open yet.

Tore into "Blown Three Times" last week, she's going to "Staggered Blown Twice" now. Never done a conversion, but it's due for this one. The engine compartment was a mess and the tail pipes needed redone. I hope it looks like new when I'm done and runs well.

I vote for stag V6's I've heard these boats like to use some fuel.

I'll be down to make sure the progress is moving and supervise from the beer cooler

Two motors are at Brad Smith's getting checked out.

Boat is apart and ready to be turned into twin stagger.

All parts have been sand blasted and ready for gloss black powder coat.

TRL505 02-14-2013 11:16 AM

If you are switching to a twin setup, why powdercoat all 3 gimbals/hardware??

They were yellow and needed it. I sell used parts, I'll have one of every thing for sale soon. ;)

endeavor1 02-14-2013 01:07 PM

So Ed, how fast did it run with trips?

It ran low 90's at 4,400 never would turn any more RPM and the back two motors showed zero boost. I never had the time to check into what was going on. Pulled all three motors and the center engine that was making 5# of boost is for sale. The other two are at Brad Smith's getting looked over. I talked to him yesterday and he has the intakes off and they look great so far.

Cool. Are you upgrading the blowers while your at it? Can t wait to see the progress on this.

That's the plan if it all works out, I found some 5 litre Whipples Id like to buy. My intakes are Whipples so I just need to change the adaptor plates. The extra 250's from air cleaner to plates will get sold off.

Precision 03-24-2013 05:23 PM

How is this going Eddie? Thinking about doing this to mine as well.

eddie 03-24-2013 06:04 PM

I have the center motor, upper, lower and IMCO box from the center drive sold. I hope to pay for the Whipples this week and take them to Smith Power.

I'm moving slow on it, been busy with work and generating cash from selling off the extra parts.
