You don't buy a go fast boat for
The gas mileage. They all suck. Who cares.

The way I justify it:
At 60MPH I'm at 1MPG
60 Gallons an hour and 60 miles in an hour.
A cruiser boat burns 30 gallons an hour but only travels 30 miles. In 2 hours it'll do 60 miles and burn 60 gallons.
My weekends are short so I have to get to my destination(s) quickly. It's more fun too.
My favorite trips are about 5 days, 180-200 miles.
Gas $700, mooring $150, food $150
$1000 for a 5 day trip for two, doing what and who I love most, when and where I feel like.
I do look forward to retirement when I get a boat that burns 13 gallons in 60 miles. By then I'll have the 6 hours to go 60 miles. WTF

and other combo's as I am sure I missed a few..

was looking for mpg's at cruise speeds and maybe what the cruise speeds would be for each.

thanks

The 525 EFI's freak me out a bit due to the header issues. They can get expensive pretty fast on a triple boat if you have to buy three sets at $5k a wack. They went to a "cool collar" in later years and it sounds like those headers hold up better.

I ran a 1993 42 525 SC (454 motor) it burned 92+ and loved it. I mean it could rip thru a tank a gas (all four of them) like no tomorrow even staying out of the boost.

I don't have cruise mpg info. I was told as a general rule for EFI engines, divide the HP by 12-12.5 for gallons per hour at WOT. Carbed engines are not quite as efficient so divide the HP by 11.5-12.

Triple 500 EFI's would be 470x3/12 = 117.5 gph at WOT
Triple 525 EFI's would be 540x3/12 = 135 gph at WOT
Twin 500/525's would be 78/90 gps at WOT

Never really figured the mpg on my Fountains. I do believe they are reasonably efficient on fuel, as far as perf boats go.

I can tell you that the faster you go the more fuel you burn, and the faster you go the more fun you have. Fountains do well in the fun per gallon catagory!
