I used a combination of sanders to get them even and to a point/sharp edge. I focused on eliminating all the low spots by sanding down the high spots. That's where I stopped. 24 more hours and I could have thinned the skeg tons but called it good enough for pleasure use. They did turn out sweet and I'd say it's a must.
80 grit paper the whole way
air board sander about 18" long. Not orbital.
hand board sander about 8" long
hand round sander about the size of a 50 cent piece
hand rat tail file wrapped in paper for the really small curves by the prop
finished the leading edge of the skeg with a 2" piece of 120grit folded in half over the skeg to give it a Hering look
6 bandaids for the blisters
10 Ibuprofins for the sore shoulders
Must have been a pound of aluminum on the floor when I was done

I use them every day for paint and sanding. btw.. I have a 6 inch and a 18 air file i used for bondo for years. I will test the set up I have .. then when I am all set up . I will do a little of this to my bricks. Sounds like a good idea. At 95 it may be good for a mph I would think

Everything does look good. Makes me wonder if there is anything wrong with the way that it felt or if it's just a different feel. It never actually did anything bad, just felt WAAAY different. Add that to the lower than desired water pressure and things are uncomfortable. It's raining this weekend and supposed to rain next weekend so I'm not sure when I'll get out again. Frickin' Seattle

I just did a bunch of upgrades to my truck, head studs, clutch etc, and keep thinking I am "hearing" or "feeling" something. Did I adjust the valves right? tighten all the bolts? etc. Well after 2500 miles of heavy hauling this week it now feels "normal", runs perfect etc. I was just over thinking everything.
I am really hopeful that you are in the same boat. At least your speed is the same, and thats on your first set of props, first time driving!
Thanks for the update, looking forward to hearing about more dial in and seat time.

Rob, a little more research is proved to me I am less than a half inch below bottom with prop center line @ drive installed. this makes my setup very close to yours other than my drives are 34 inches apart
. it will be interesting to see how the bravo style probs perform like this, maybe useful information for both of us.

How about them ice pellets we had yesterday? Gotta love our Puget Sound weather. I feel your pain. I look at our boat in the garage wondering if it will ever be in the water again. Its been a l o n g winter!

I'm no expert but it looks to me like it needs more power.
The attitude of the boat looks great. I'm with most in that the lower needs to come up some in order to take the most advantage of it. HOwever, since you aren't after every last mph, I think the higher rake, smaller diameter wheels will help a lot.
I had some of my engines in a 388 Hustler. Joe, the owner of Hustler, told me to NEVER use a wheel over 16.5" diameter. He said it will give it way to much stern lift and push it on the nose causing ill handling. This may in part hold true in your instance.
Hope it works out. Keep us posted. Good luck.
