I have a '97 47 fountain and changed the tv about 5 years ago. The only one that was HDTV flat screen with built-in DVD at the time that I could find that ran on 12 volt was by Toshiba. I'm sure there are many others now. I used the wall mound provided and bolted it with stainless bolts to the existing marine plywood the old tv was mounted to. I have never had a problem and I run a lot on big water on Lake Michigan.

Very nice install! What do you need to look for to be able to play videos from an iPhone/iPad?

I'm thinking of changing my head unit this year to one that has USB connector. Do these 12V TV's that have USB ports allow for the iPhone/iPad hookups?

Thanks. You need the cord from Apple that has the iPhone flat jack, the RCA plugs and a USB jack. I think it was a $50 cord, but from what I understand you have to use the Apple product to work as they install some type of electrical thing within the cord itself. Non Apple cords won't work, or so I've read.

My TV was before the USB craze. Not sure why todays sets wouldn't' work with the USB, seems to be the trend, and the HDMI stuff

Pookie, I'd venture to guess your 47 rides a little smoother than our 27's and 32's

I also have just put a flat screen in my 47' however I had to put it on the forward wall behind the anchor locker (the last owner had one there and torn up the fabric and logo,.... sour) I run my in AC only I do have to run my generator as I would if I was using a DC powered TV to keep the battery charger running I also found a lot of unused wires on my boat when doing the work later to find they were the wires to the fans, and an AC & DC for the TV on the starboard side along with wires for the docking lights to the anchor locker, all of these were ran to the breaker panel and to the breakers labeling them installed by Fountain but not used.I'm going to look into putting Clairon's CMV1.

If you guys that want to use your iPads/iPhones you might want to look into a TV with an HDMI which is a better signal than the composite (RCA connections) One cable for audio and video. With that being said I think you can't get HD out of the first generation ipad so you have to do some searching on apples web site below.

Blu ray has been out for years. Keep in mind to take advantage of blu-ray you will want something that can do 1080P,,,,,,, most do at this time.

But to tell you the truth, on that small of a screen standard resolution movies that you have downloaded to a I-pad/ I phone/ what ever will be fine.

No offense, but I know bigger is better, right? , but won't a 22" be too big in the cabin of a 27? Mine is only a 13" and it's plenty big enough with a sharp picture, and this is with having a longer cabin. Just thinking too large of a screen will make for a grainy pic since you'll be sitting closer to it.

Just an observation
