Default Second Vin location mid 90s 35 Fountain

A friend fixed a guys truck about 5 years ago,the bill was 10k. He did not have the money so he left his boat for collateral....well guy never came back. Its a 35 EX but the may have been called lightnings back then flat bottom no step. He wants to sell the boat but he does not have the title for it or the trailer. Here is were it gets interesting there is no Vin on the right rear corner, there are some decent scratches on the rub rail so it might have been a repair. Any other places to look for a vin?

If he can find the VIN he can apply for a title under the past due bill. But he needs a VIN number. Oh and it will be a killer deal for someone to go through or part out.

Mine have been located in the underneath side of the gunnel in the engine compartment on the port side or the underneath side of the dash. Just a simple 1/2"x 2" piece of PVC engraved with numbers, then glued in. J

Ok thanks I will look under the dash and in the engine compartment when I see him on Thurs. If its not stolen its a deal only has one engine but both drives are there and its on an aluminum Nextral tri axle trailer. I pulled the cover up a little and the interior looks decent but I did not go into the cabin.

Fountain also stamped the HIN on the passenger side of the cockpit. He will have to take out the front bolster and take off the side pannel, but that is where mine was was I redid my interior.

Good luck.

Deal doesnt sound shady but for 10k it might be worth it. Man would that be fun to get registered in your name. I know mechanics can seize property and put in there name I would suggest the seller do this first or him and I would be creating a nice memo with all the details and signed by both.

I have seen a few fountains where it looked like someone took a dremel tool and engraved the HID numbers into the glass...always wondered about that...
