From what I understand it is the valve springs, hours are hours on those,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that said did formula say if they had the springs done?

800 hours is good news, my HP500EFI's have 370ish, springs done around 320.

No I forgot to ask that. I was calling around to see what oil they recommended a while back when all the oil threads were afoot and they said Mercury 25w-40 changed every 25 hours. The guy went on to say they had several cruiser customers with 800+ hours on 525's.

I am curious as to why someone would recommend changing the oil after only 25 hours? Is this recommendation for full synthetic? I used to send in my oil to have it sampled and found out I was just draining good oil. 5000 miles of 11'camper and trailer with 4 - 4wheelers and the oil was still in good shape (Mobil 1 15w-50). I have 20 hours on Mercury 25-40 full synthetic in my Fountain. I'm going to have it sampled and compared to a new sample. Fram makes the kits. Last time I bought one it was $15 for the service.
