Unfortunately, my last, last boat (2 boat ago, if you need some counting), was an exceptionally well taken care of 89 Baja 240. She had a BADASS 540 in her, and was a lot of fun on lake Travis. Not so much in the rough, but I digress. She had dry exhaust exiting above the swim platform. I loved the he!! out of it. Wife, not so much. The boat had a 2000 watt stereo in it, and you couldn't even hear it under way, I haven't figured the math out yet, but somehow, 650 HP can beat out more than twice as much stereo wattage...lol. Not that that was a big deal to me, I love a screaming big block, but you know where the push back on that is coming from. To be competely honest, even I got kinda tired of it when the PoPo got interested. Which was every time I pulled into the party cove, pulled out of the party cove, put it on the trailer, pulled it off of the trailer, started it up, shut it down, cruised anywhere....and on and on. In a perfect world, I'd throw some SMI dry exhaust on this one too, exiting above the swim platform. No worries about vibrating with that setup, but it's just not that practical...I've learned the value of "selective stealth' these days on the lake. At least around here.

Switchable exhaust is illegal in NJ, so anytime I get pulled over while coming off plane I slowly close the exhaust (air actuated) so by the time I stop its like I'm not even running. Luckily its only a few times a year and I've only gotten warnings.

Yup, illegal in NY as well. And the fine is more than loud exhaust. Illegal exhaust modification is what they write it for. I have never got a ticket for loud exhaust. My friend with stock 502s and cast iron manifolds got the silent choice ticket last year. Crazy

May sound crazy, but have you tried strategically placing dynomat pieces on areas of the swim platform that you can reach from inside? The stuff is pretty amazing, kills subwoofer resonance, worth a shot. I have been using window membrane flashing for speaker installs, cheaper and seems to work just the same

My boat will be dry to the tips with rubber downturns.
