The reason you see most of the older 29's as twins is because that is all that they made until late 1996. 1997 was the first "model year" for the single engine "extended cockpit" 29 Fever, and many of the 1997's were still twins. The 1997 single engine Sport Boats brochure "introduces" the "newly redesigned 29 Fever with a cost saving, lower maintenance single engine installation". The 1997 specification book lists the "newly introduced single engine 29 Fever" (single 7.4L Mercruiser with bravo drive) at 5400 lbs with a 132 gallon fuel tank, a 29 Fever twin engine (7.4L mercruisers with bravo drives) at 6900 lbs with a 113 gallon fuel tank and the 27 Fever at 4800 lbs with a 61 gallon fuel tank. The 29 Fever single went from 5400 lbs to 5500 lbs when they changed from the corner glovebox cockpit to the fwd facing glovebox cockpit. When the switched to the "new deck styles" with anchor lockers, built in swim platform ladder, and wrap around windshields, in 2000- 2001, both the 27 and 29 gained additional weight. The 27 went to 5150 lbs and the 29 went to 5850 lbs, as stated above.
Hope this clarifies some of the information on these boats.

I have a friend who is trying to sell his boat. Its a 1995 Fever with twin HP500s that were just refreshed and done to 600HP.
Recent bravo drives as well.
Its a 90MPH boat. CLEAN!
He is firm at $36K Canadian...about an hour north of the border.
I think $36K is pretty damn close to $30k in US funds at the exchange rate now.
To me its a steal!

A stock 525 on the dyno s 550-560 hp and that in a 29' single Fountain will run 78-80 mph.
most I have seen is twins probably ten to one, but that could just be what I have seen. One single 525 is 500 hp, two 454s generate at least 230hp more if they are newer over 250hp, which is alot. BUT! BUT!! you also have to figure in two engines and drives weigh more than one engine so you get a weight savings. But in the end I think your talking a wash in speed and performance, that boat you wont get past 70 in most singles.
So you have to choose less maint, or do you want reliability in twins is probably the biggest thing about and is preference.
