do you remember how underside of engine hatch was configured?

Yes, we had to have small cutouts built that were slightly taller than the rest of the engine hatch. The center of the hatch over flame arrestor was ever so slightly higher than the rest of the hatch. Was not even noticeable unless you stepped on it. Sometimes when skanks would be walking on it they would step on the corner of the raised cutout....I did it a few times myself and it hurt....lol.

we got tall decks and big tube dry exhaust we cut a 2x4 inch and a half down to zero installed them on the sides painted installed 1 1/2 inch hard rubber in front of the hatch work great
