Just noticed the cable for my port engine mechanical trim gauge is broken on my 1989 fountain fever. I have heard you can use telflex universal cables but cannot find a part number or anything.

Looks like the starboard has already been replaced. Been looking for a number on the cable but haven't seen anything. I'll look again tonight.
Is there anything special on the ends or is it just a cable and reuse the existing hardware ?

Most are standard. Same cables for trim and drive. Maybe even throttle. Look near the ends. Drive and trim on stbd should be same length. Drive and trim on port should be same length. So if it is port side drive check tab and vice versa

Most control cables are available in lengths from 6 to 50 feet.See the Teleflex Marine list price sheet for
current offering. Where Part Numbers are indicated, XX = length in feet. Lengths above 30 feet are only
available in two-foot increments (32, 34, 36, etc)
TFXTREME 3300 cable (premium) .... CC633XX
