Wildman I thought long and hard about closed cooling. I believe after looking at it I could have added it for another 1000 each side. I decided to leave them alone because I always flush well after every use. Then years ago I had a problem with electrolysis because of a bare wire from my bilge pump. Electrolysis ate the elbows out of my holding tank and all of the coolers. All of those fitting are brass and very soft. After giving it some thought I decided to keep it simple and stay with what I have.

let us know if the exhaust rattle goes away,
the only way I was able to get rid of the exhaust rattle was to install the turn down tips (Diesel truck exhaust tips )and direct the exhaust in the water and not trap it under the swim platform .

Very good idea. I think that Ron's idea will do the same exact thing as your turn downs did for you with the exhaust rattle. Ron changed the angle so if shots past that pocket in the platform.

If I am seing this right the water doesn't mix untill right at the exit?

Next time I am on that side I need to stop by and look at your boat, I like how that exhaust looks.

Man I bet you can't wait for the sea trial.

Thank You Jake. I took delivery of the boat on Friday night. Ron called me Friday morning while on my way to work and ask if I wanted him to put the rear parts of my interior back together for me. He said I would like you and Nick to take the boat out together and run it. This way you could look everything over while operating just to be sure your happy with everything on the boat. He said at least everyone will have a place to set down. I told him yes that would be great if he had time to do it. So I took the swim pad and the top and bottom of the back seat to him. He called me again around 2 pm and said they were ready to go if I was ready. So I met Nick at the boat ramp here in Sarasota. We jumped in and took off. I thought of all of the things I hated about those old motors while idling out of the marina. First thing that crossed my mind was how long it used to take to plane out once I throttled up to get on top. The second thing I could think of was my old cruising speed and RPM. It was always around 3400 RPMs the speed was around 42 MPH. the third thing was that crappy vibration my boat had while not on top because of the exhaust getting trapped in the pocket of the swim platform. The forth was how hard my controls worked both throttles and shifters. The shifter had already moved like glass almost effortless to shift from forward to reverse. You know we shift these twin motors boats a lot because if done right in handling your boat you shouldn't have to touch your steering wheel at all when docking and maneuvering around. So we got out to the end of the channel and I ask Nick if he was ready to roll he said he was ready. I took one last look at my gauges to see if they were up to operating temp and if I was pumping water like she should last how's my oil pressure. Everything looked great. I put my trim tabs down and drives all the way in and throttled up to about 2200 RPMs. Pulled tabs all the way up again and she was up and turning about 3000 RPMs now. Trimmed my drives up and now she was turning about 3300RPMs. I thought holy cow she popped right up on plane like it was nothing and in half the distance it used to take. I thought wow what a difference the extra torque makes. The throttles were also effortless when I throttled up just like the shifters were. I throttled up to my old cruising RPM which was 3400 RPMs. I looked at my GPS and it said 50.9 MPH. I thought holy cow what a difference in the speed as well. The power was wonderful. I let her ride for around 6 or 7 miles up to the cut threw to Long boat Key inlet. There is a narrow pass going into the inlet that's always smooth as glass. Friday was no different it was like a mirror. I bumped the throttles a little again she slid right on up to 68 MPH. I looked at Nick and smiled he looked at me and said hit her once real quick and feel her real power just for a couple of minutes. I didn't say a word back to him just pushed the throttles to the dash board. She pinned me back in my bolster. I let her go for maybe 60 seconds. I glanced at my GPS and it said 83.4 MPH. My tachs said 5500 RPMs. She was still building a ton on both speed and horse power. I pulled her back down to 3400 again. Back to my cruising speed of a incredible 50 MPH. All I could think was what a difference. They were supposed to build me two motors but my entire boat is different. They adjusted and tweaked everything they found that wasn't perfect on the entire boat. I ask Nick if he was sure this was my boat? Was he sure they didn't just paint one to look like mine? Nothing is the same as it was before I took it to Ron. The boat is so much better now then it was before I took it to Ron. We got back to the dock and loaded her back on the trailer. Nick ask if I see anything that needs to be done that isn't perfect. I really couldn't find one thing to tell him. Not one. I took delivery Friday night. Ron ask me the same question anything that's not what you want it to be? Doesn't matter if it has to do with the build of the motors or not. Anything at all you see? I said no nothing at all that I cant see. He said ok that's great. If you see anything after you take the boat out of my shop you still call me and I will take care of it for you. He said Ill be ready in about 1 hour I want my guys to wash it for you. I said you don't have to do that. He insisted he wanted it to be washed up before I took it. It was actually a couple of hours before I went over to Ron's shop. My business was pretty busy Friday so I finished what I needed to finish before I went over. I got there and it was only Ron left at the shop. He said how's she look?? I said wow she is beautiful. Your guys did a great job washing her. He said yes they did. I actually had my painter drop by and wet sand and buff it for you before we washed it. I thought holy cow. I know I have never been treaded like this before by anyone I have ever done business with. I don't know if any of you guys have ever stayed at the Waldorf Historia or one of Trumps Hotels or any of those high scale places before or not. Those places turn down your bed before you turn in for the night. They also always put a mint on your pillow just for the final touch of class. I'm going to close this thread by telling you that Ron and all of the guys at Potter Performance put the mint on my pillow. What a class act. My wife Kim and I would like to thank Ron and his guys for the terrific job they did on our boat. Ron if you read this. I'm still smiling buddy!!!
