When I kill the outdrive I'll probably go with a XR upper and IMCO or XR lower... But I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll probably have to rebuild the motor before the outdrive goes. lol. Just cant leave well enough alone!

Took her out of storage last weekend and gave her a quick shakedown run... Man I missed being on the water. First time I've taken it out since I got the CMI headers put on and the new labbed prop. Had a full tank so I couldn't do any top speed runs yet but it feels a lot more responsive mid range and up top. Hopefully I can let it all hang out this weekend!

Nice! What did you end up doing on the motor?

Bob Smith (Brad's father, RIP Brad) built me a 509. Lumpy cam, new rods, Stainless Marine exhaust, and a little more compression are the high points. Little Smith painted it and the bilge, he does great work.

Looks like the Latham on mine. Don't think Fountain was doing it in house at that point.

BTW- are the steps on these boats vented? I have a through transom fitting with hose that goes nowhere. Vented step is all I can figure.
