The 35 Fountain is a 31 Excalibur, I don't think there is any arguing that. So, as far as LOA, yes 35 but same running surface as a 31 foot boat with no beak or molded swim platform. 31 Cigarette Bullett for example.

Just been doing some measuring with the boat sitting level and a string line over the bustle it is approximately 3ft 2" to the start of the running surface making the hull length 26ft 9", the actual wetted running length at speed on smooth water is approximately 14ft.

I hear what you are saying, but Fountain is not the only one(but they are the ones getting blame for it),,,here is some specs of another builders boat I came across, how bout that running surface..

The most important part of the equation as it pertains to this discussion is the actual overall linear feet that needs to be supported by the trailer; and then what hangs off the back.
What if a 35 Fountain has ITS or Extension Boxes? Such will extend the overall tip to toe length on a trailer.
Also, one other thing to consider:
When I am towing my boat, I tow it with the drives full trimmed out in the "trailer position" as some call it. When I back into my building, and the drives are all the way out at that position, my tip-toe length is a good 12" longer than when I have my drives trimmed all the way down. If I am backing into my building, I have to take into account where my drives are; and I have a 4x4 laying on the floor acting as a stop. I have the floor marked in two places where the 4x4 can be placed, drives-out/drives-in; protecting me from creating an extra opening out of the back of my building.
As such, there is a difference when it comes to workable space vs. pure static storage space.
These conversations have soooooo many variables, it's hard to quantify. Folks that have a F-450 may have the boat on the trailer a bit more forward than those with a 2500HD; because the bigger truck can handle more tongue weight. That could account for 6" of tip-toe length right there. Then the 2500HD owner could switch to a WD hitch, add airbags, and move his boat forward on the trailer too.

Seems like there is a fair amount of butt-hurt on this thread, and there really is no reason for it.

why not just answer the OP question?why did you have to add the part about "fountain fudging length numbers"? you knew the replies you were going to get when you put that in there..sounds to me your doing a little back paddling,,,, just saying....
by they way ,,just because somebody calls you out on a bs reply it does not mean they are butt-hurt,,

I measured a friends 2000, no boxes. The drives fit under the swim platform so that's not an issue. He has a special build myco that's 1 ft shorter than normal and it measures 38'-8" rub rail to tongue. so plan on like Ragged Edge sways and allow for ext boxes if has them.
