Probably need to change your title. It is confusing and will not get much action. I know there are only a few 38 lightnings. Three I think. Others were all fever models. I have never been in a 38 lightning so I'm not much help but the fever is a nice boat. I liked the roomy cockpit although getting to the bow if it has the windshield is tough. Plan on buying a race faring at some point on the fever because someone will break it. Good luck.

It's a one-off creation. By 2003 the 38 Fever had been phased out in favor of the 38 Lightning which by that time was being made with the second generation steps. But money talks and someone just had to have the Fever cockpit and was willing to pay up to get it ` so Reggie relented and made one more 38 Fever. As you eluded to the customer spun it out and partially sunk it the first or second time out.

No idea what happened to it after that other than it surfaced recently on OSO as part of a deal gone bad between Cobra Power and the thread starter who had an ax to grind against Cobra. It should run a couple MPH faster than other 38 Fevers with similar power because of the bigger steps but as the first owner found out, it cannot be turned as hard.

What was the "deal gone bad" with cobra?
And I knew it spun but didn't know it got wet?

When that boat first sold and spun there was a pic of it here on OSO with the engine compartment partially submerged. Seems to me the spin did some damage to one of the drives and it took on some water but didn't fully sink. I was a fan of Fevers at the time so it stood out to me but that has been ages ago. I do not know or remember the full story on what damage the boat incurred as part of that accident but I do know the boat was repaired and sold and used again after that accident.

I should clarify that when I say the boat showed up again (to me) it was in the thread bashing Cobra were someone mentioned that it was for sale by Cobra. The boat itself was not part of the controversy of the deal gone bad or part of the beef that the thread starter had with Cobra. Cobra was just selling the boat at the time.
