On the performance report for my 27 the trim was at 5.8 for max speed, I have also found right around there to be the best for top speed. It also would depend on the year, a higher x dimension would require less trim.

Called fountain today. Their on vacation till Monday. I'll try to get a performance sheet then. It's a 97 single step 35 with fresh full rebuilds. Not sure of the x dimensions on it. Never gone more than 5 before on my other boats so I didn't want to push. I was surprised by what I picked up from 4-5 which is why I started this. My intent is to get sheets and measure when it doesn't rain all day. Again I appreciate all the input!!

Reggie Fountain once told me max. trim is 5 1/2 running top end , my 1990 smooth bottom runs best right at 5 to 5 1/2, above that is starts getting loose on the water and doesn't help any for speed.
