Default Dash warning lights

Hey guys so I bought a 2004 29 Fever earlier this summer with a 496. Wife and I love the boat but last night we were cruising around and one of the warning lights came on and sounded the buzzer but only for a second then went off. A few minutes later it came on again for a second and went off. Did this about 4-5 times. Water temp was good oil pressure was good drive oil reservoir is full. Ran all the way back to the dock with no other problems. Ran the motor on the hose today and the alarm went off twice before the motor came to temp. I have 2 warning lights but only one was going off. So I climbed under the dash to see how it was wired and the other warning light isn't connected to anything. Any suggestions? Is it normal to have 2 warning lights? Is the one that isn't connected a dummy or should it be connected? Thanks for you help.

Another question is the warning light tied into the smartcraft system?

Typically they both go off when there is a problem. Not sure why you have one not wired. I have twins and they both go off if one motor has an issue which is how it is wired from fountain.

I have a dummy on mine as well, but haven't had it go off. I've seen a similar thread in the past on them going off.

Sounds like an IAC valve. Do not continue to run boat, 496's will melt connector..........ask me how I know. Rock auto has them for about $40.00

Thanks guys, Lots of people have told me the same thing, IAC. I am trying to find a local shop that can scan the codes for me to be sure thats the problem before I go blindly replacing sensors. Expensive Date thansk for the tip on RockAuto.

So checking out RockAuto and it looks like you can get them at Orileys also. http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...&keyword=ac423

Looks like it, but you have to get the gasket from Mercury the one they come with is different. Also clean your spark arrestor and change the IAC filter, thanks to member " BUP" for the last two tips.
