NON step 35 Top Speeds
I'm sure there is a thread on this but ,I just did the top ends on my boat. I went from totally stock 454's including exhaust and did heads ,cams ,intakes ,carbs and exhaust .I did a small roller 575/575 lift any way I'm guessing close to 500 hp. What speed should I be seeing with this hp? Thanks Robert

That's what it did with the old engines . I'm hoping mid to high 70's with new set up. Just curious what 500 hp should do in it.

A friend of mine had a single step 35 with hp 500's and it went 77 on gps
|
92 35' with healthy 525's touch over 80 with lite a lite load

With the right props I think it might go mid 70's , when I was making 625 mine would run right around 80 fresh water slight chop

Always allot of factors go into estimating top speed after modifications but with merc hp 500's a 35 non step should run low to mid 70's. If you make the 500 horsepower your hoping for that's probably about what you can expect. What heads and exhaust are you running?
|
I am running Emi exhaust, Pro maxx aluminum cylinder heads, dart single plane 850 holley, crane 1.7 rockers and a roller cam 575/575 112 lobe .
|
Ok I believe the promaxx heads are what use to be patriot cylinder heads. Assuming a 9-1 compression ratio or higher I would say easy 500+ horsepower. Once you get it propped right you should see mid 70's
|
Took the boat out hit 75 gps no problem. That was with three people 3/4 of fuel..
|
What kind of water were you in, dead flat or 1 ft. chop, mine likes at least a 1ft. chop

Our Flat bottom likes a little chop as well. We have 2 500ci bbc making 625hp or so and on gps at wot we run 83mph give or take a few mph. Wot is 5800 rpms.

I don't know the HP on mine, mild roller cams, Dart Pro1 CNC'd heads, Dart tall intakes port matched, Eddie Marine Thunder exh., MSD ignition boxes & distributors,
the 540's make very good torque and the Hydromotive Props work reall well. |

Yes, they are great all around performance, plane out easily and lift the stern for top speed, they don't need to be trimmed out as much as Bravo1 props .

Got "THUNDERSTRUCK" running on all 16 cylinders now. Saw 99 mph on gps this weekend

Green do you still own it or 315duramax who states he bought it? What's the story behind the damage since the only feedback is the boat hit something. No kidding it hit something.

110mph.....35 lightning...blown 540s.....1000hp each.....upriver.....hydromotive 28s.

Does anyone have an accurate weight for these older flat bottom 35 lightnings? When I put my (1989 35 lightning, Bravo 1, 454MAGS ) speed and HP numbers into the BAM SPEED CALCULATOR , its giving me a weight of about 8000 LBS.....does that seem about right? The boat runs 68 MPH bone stock....I have a pr of 496(625HP) going in the boat, and the calculator is saying 85-87 MPH.....so Im curious how accurate this is.

Remember these 33-35 fountains are fly weight 30 foot boats. |
approx. 8,000# dry, then add 160 gal. gas, 2 riders, 2 anchors, toolbox, 2 coolers, 50# of misc. stuff you never use and old flat bottom 35's get heavy, but still run very well.

Even with a gear change 110 is a tall order for those props!
