Fever 27
I am currently looking to by a 1991 Fountain 27 but I want to know if you guys think it will be too much for my truck.
I know the boat is 4800lbs in the specs but I think its Dry Hull only, with no motor, no gas, no equipement. The boat is on a Myco tandem trailer. My truck is a Chevy Trailblazer SS (stock + B&M aftermarket oil cooler for the transmission) and the truck is rated at 6800lbs towing capacity. Do you think the boat/trailer/everything will be too much for my truck ? The boat ramp is only at 15-20min from where I live. |
Way too much. Your looking at 7500+ with fuel, trailer, etc. I pulled my 27 with a 1500 Silverado for a while and it was a load. I have a 2500 diesel now.

I pull mine with a f150 fx4 with a 6.2 gas and it pulls it easily, have a ram cummins and rarely use it to pull the boat. for a 20 minute drive i think you will be fine, just dont go to fast or the tail might wag the dog

I finally bought the boat !
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps6epecmhu.jpg The truck is towing well even if its look small in the front of that. I probably wont go on the highway with this setup...but the local boat ramp is 10-15 minutes from my home and I use only little streets to go there. |
I can't endorse that setup.
But if you are going to continue to use it; dump that Surge Brake Coupler, and go with Electric over Hydraulic. You will thank me one day. BTW, the majority of accidents occur on 'small streets'. Toddlers chasing a ball, Grandma pulling out in her Delta 88, tween cross street on his bike... etc. etc. |
You know what a Delta 88 is/was?
Wow am impressed. |

that looks like a nice trailblazer. Maybe think about trading for either a little older heavier truck or up to a heavier truck and thank us all later. Don't risk it. Not worth it. |
You did ask the question and now you've got a few replies.......Sounds like you need to upgrade the truck but don't get disheartened and dump the boat, she looks great, love the white, congrats!

It's not the pulling, it's the Stopping.
