I have a Fountain fever 29 and I want to have the back two sections of the sun pad refinished with the fountain logo. I figured it would be easier if I just take the two sections off the engine hatch and bring them to be upholstered. Has anyone ever disassembled a hatch? Is it a matter of just removing the plugs on the underside of the hatch to access bolts? Thanks

the rear most pad may have metal trim around the perimeter at the stern. I don't remember if it has to come off before removing the pad, or if it will come off with the pad. Mine is a 95 - I'm not even sure if that piece is still the on newer boats.

The metal trim stays attached to the hatch. Just remove the plugs and then nuts

Thanks for the info, I was actually just looking at the trim piece when I read your post! That's exactly what I have to do, my dove tail piece of wood came loose as well. I'm assuming the staple came loose. Did you do it yourself or have someone do it? If you had someone do it how much did they charge you so I have an idea? Thanks

I had to redo my 'dove tail' peice also. I think someone had sat on the hatch at 1 time and pulled up on the panel. Its just 2 pieces of plywood mitered and stapled together. Not sure who engineered that. I realigned the tail and then layed down a couple strips of glass on both sides to make it solid. Just dont run the glass to the very edge where you need to put the covering staples back in.
