Like ICU lookin says, I'm tickling 90 with 800hp per side, with SSM IV drives. The SSM drives gobble up quite a bit of power compared to a bravo. You might be able to get it done with a pair of 750's and bravo based drives. Maybe even 700's. My boat is pretty stern heavy compared to say, a Bravo/NA engine setup. I'm running all iron engines, blowers, chillers, transmissions, and the heavy ssm drives. Rough estimate, my engine packages, probably add about 800lbs to the stern, compared to a N/A aluminum headed bravo combo. Then throw in the fact the engines are almost a foot forward in mine due to tranny's, that isn't helping bow lift, which these straight bottoms like.
My hull is also a 1990.
These hulls arent' nearly as light as and fast as people think they are. The 36/38 Fever was never one of fountains really fast hulls, even once they added steps, they were still kinda slow compared to the newer 38 lightnings.
Also, my speed number is a realistic one. She runs upper 80s with nearly full tanks, ton of stuff in cabin (tools, spare parts, a/c unit, duffle bags, sleeping bags etc), 2-3 people on board, and in freshwater. Not a one time in the perfect chop , in salt, with 1/4 tanks of fuel, and nothing on board number.

I have a 97 38 Fever (small steps) with IMCO -2 lowers, XR uppers and with 502s with Dart Pro1 CNC'd heads, Whipple 2.3L superchargers with intercooler it ran 97.5 with 2 people and nearly full fuel and probably had a pinch left but unfortunately the rods didn't like turning 5800 with the labbed 32 Bravos. I've since replaced the bottom ends with some strong 540s, i'm still tuning but running way rich I'm at 97+, I'm expecting 105 or so once i'm done tuning.
Here's a video of a friend in a 29 Fever with a 1000Hp Chief Engines and myself playing around in the North Sound Grand Cayman

My 2000 Fever with standard length XR's ran 81ish with a set of new 525's and bravos. When I switched to -2 Imco's I ran 85 out of the box. It ran 88 with a set of Ilmor 625's and set of Px5's and then 95 when I upgraded to Ilmor 710's and Px5's. There was more to be had with set up but I sold the boat.

Lol! But if you go by Mild Thunder going 90 w 800 per side. And small steps going 90 w 700 hp. It makes it look like a 100 hp per side difference. Then you add 5-10 mph in set up to that. So he can get an idea
. Also its cool when anybody with a 38 has a thread. I love my 38 and love to see what other 38's are up to
