I have a 29 with twins (small blocks) and love it. I've had it 4 years. Sitting next to me in my marina is a 29 with a 525. Both boats have their benefits. The 525 is easier to work on for routine maintenance. However, the 525 is a very expensive motor to keep maintained if you own it during a top end valve service or header repair. Something to think about If you have a loan on the boat. My 29 will get on plane in a matter of seconds, but my neighbors 29 525 takes quite a while to get up and on plane. He is 4-5 mph faster wide open, but otherwise the boats run similar. Also my boat with twins is so much easier to dock where his can be a challenge at a busy restaurant or marina. I absolutely love my 29 and would love a 525 single also. Fountains are one of a kind. On the other hand, I boat on a large southern lake, and from what I've read about the conditions of the Great Lakes, I would be looking for a bigger boat with the most reliable twins available.

Kinda like a 37 AT with 525 will do 90 mph all day long, must be a Fountain yardtick speedo.

Personally I would not have anything under 30' on the lake. I thought the 33 Outlaw was a great boat on lake Michigan.

My boat does ride better in the rough as it should being about 3, 000 lbs heavier and a narrower beam but can`t pass the Fountain even with 200more hp... that Pad bottom is fast no doubt about it.

But when it's over 2ft you run by the fountain right? Cause fountains can't run in anything over 2ft.

I boat lake ontario, and once the waves get above 4 feet, every body is slowing down, above 6 they are going back to the dock for a beer
