I like fountains, but I like alot of other boats as well. The only problem I'm seeing is that whether I look at a 27 foot, 29 foot with single, 29 foot with double, or 32 late 90's, they all want 40 grand and up, doesn't seem to matter what size. and if you mention things to the owners like buc values, they say "but it's a fountain"

Yeap, everyone knows I'm the biggest lying dlckhead in the community. I'm surprised you guys just got the memo.

Nobody jumped on Griff; but I don't care; seems like some folks are just equal-opportunity-selectively offended.
And Dan, you totally contradicted yourself.
"Best day" and "All day" are two radically different concepts in Performance Boating; pretty sure the majority know that.
If I ever end up with a 42 Poker Run, I'll have to paint it red so my embarrassed red face will blend in whenever I pass by an OSO member. At least I'll be paying for 42' of paint!

just like I have replied to your other posts,if you want to get a nice boat best forget NADA or BUC ,go out find the boat you like and try to work out a deal with the seller.

we all know how big our boats are and we are ok with it. do you like to drive a custom van or a Porsche? so not everyone likes to go out on a big bulky boat, for some of us performance and handling is more important than size.
as for Griff ,I did not include him in my original reply because I thought he would be busy answering his phone,I know he tried selling his boat a couple of years ago and I know the demand is high for A/T

lying dickhead? WTF are you talking about?I never called you a liar,,but its painfully obvious you never miss a opportunity to take a cheap shot at Fountain, and when you do that you are tacking a cheap shot at all Fountain owners, so please keep it to yourself!

And I'm not taking a shot at anyone. I'm sorry you feel that way.

He never takes a shot at Fountains. Cmon ! LOL
You are talking about 2 different sized boats. The 42 Fountain is going to be smaller and lighter than the 43 Donzi. Keep that in mind. As such, a well equipped 3/4 ton can probably handle the Fountain.
However, if you are jumping up to the 43 Donzi, I think you are going to want the bigger truck and the extra tires in the rear to help you control the load.
You can get any of the Ram, GM, or Ford 1 tons in SRW now. On the Ford, the only thing different between them in 2017 SRW models is an extra leaf spring per my visual inspections at lots. I am not sure about the GMs. But with the Rams, their 2500 is a 4-corner coil spring suspension, and the 3500 is leafs in the back; BIG difference in capability, regardless of what capacities day.
The thing that is going to be most important is length. You want the crew cab/long bed setup. That's what is going to keep leverage over the load.
However, with the 43 Donzi, I think you will be much better off with DRW, regardless of what the capacities state.

32 Fountains don't just take water though the vent holes, it goes through the hull/deck joint as well as around the exhaust holes.
Quite a few of them have had rotten transoms due to this, aside from taking on water in the bilge issues.
I don't hate the 32 Fountains, but they seem to be the most trouble prone of the legacy Fountain lineup.
If I were you, I'd be looking for something a little more substantial for LOTO.
Have you thought about a Baja 32 Caliber? This would likely be in the same budget category of the 32 Fountain.
I know of one in VA that lives on a freshwater lake. It's not for sale, but owner told me last month he will probably sell it at some point within the next year.
I agree with other feedback, Getting into something larger like the 35 Fountain, or maybe a 31 Cigarette, 32 Active Thunder, is going to be better for you. The 32' Fountain is really only 29-ish feet of boat and with twin BBC, it's going to sit REALLY low in the back, and will be tail heavy on all that rough water. You may find it a bit difficult to get on plane in rough water as well. I'd see the 32 Fountain as better for a flat water lake hot rod.
