Crude Intentions 02-26-2017 05:31 PM

Also if you've never used one I would advise getting a feel for it on something other than your boat first. Lol

I used a jig saw with a fiberglass blade on sub cut outs, worked well. Anything smaller and the jig saw would be tricky I think. I use my dremel for other speaker holes with the radius/circle cutting adapter tool. Works well too just noisy and dusty

I used a jig saw last time on my 29 where the logos were and it looked ruff and chip a couple places but the lucky the vinyl covered it. I worried it will will do the same on this one but its will be under the seat and more visible. Any advise on that?

Thanks

I think I went pretty slow with the jig saw. Mine has a variable speed trigger on it so it allows you to move the blade very slow if wanted, which also allowed me to keep the saw on track curving around the 10" hole. But the teeth on a jig saw blade are pointed up so they remove material on the up stroke, so if you're cutting from the gel coat side the teeth should be hitting the fiberglass before the gel coat. If you want to play it safe tho a dremel with a rotary bit should not chip at all.
