The 27' with twins is a 1990 model year or older before they included the swim platform in the length. That means that it is actually the same length as a 1991 or newer 29. Just as the 33', 36', and 40' fountains became 35', 38', and 42' in 1991.

That makes sense, I'm looking at a 1990 w/twins, so essentially what would be a current 29, I suppose???. Clearly a pain to work on, but does anyone have a sense of the torque, speed, and overall performance gains or lack thereof
over a single screw???

So far it doesn't sound like alot given the added weight and associated 'squattyness'

Thanks!!!

Twin engine 27 is the older hull with flat bottom. comparable in size to a newer 29. The single 27 is a way smaller boat. If you really want a fountain spend the extra money and get a single engine 29. The newer 27 is pretty tight for most people. Jeff wurl

We have an '05 32 Fever with twin Scorpions. Twins has a few advantages that nobody has mentioned. You are done being towed with twins, you always have one engine to get you home. In some cases this is a major safety feature. It's also nice to know that your engines are running perfectly. With a single you can have a small problem that's robbing power and you can't really tell for sure other than you think it should be faster. With twins you open it up and when both tachs run up to the same number you know both are running right. You can also compare gauges on both engines, when they are the same you know you are all good. Diagnosing a problem can be nice to have another engine right there to compare with. With my scanner I can check all numbers with the good engine and compare. As far as the ass end of the boat sitting low in the water, I like that. We get a lot of compliments on how cool it looks sitting in the water. Also somebody mention the sea water pumps being a pain, they are not hard at all on mine, they are right on the front, but I am 175lbs with long arms. If you are 200lbs+ you are probably screwed as far as any maintenance.

There were a couple 29s with 377s I was really interested in when I was boat shopping but I let them get away. Didn't know they put them in a 32. What kind of speed are you getting?

Im 175lbs and changing a sender on one of my 502s was a pain! Being said, I still like having twins.

I've never run one before, so I need some advice as to what differences to expect between the two setups..

Thx!!!
There is a very nice and clean 1995 twin 454 Fountain 29 on Facebook for $29k. I have no clue why it hasn't sold yet. I don't know the guy or boat but I don't think you could go wrong with it. 95 is the stepped hull. PM me if you need help locating it.
