Sorry, I was being lazy this morning. Currently I am running the stock hydromotive prop I believe it is a 24P and it has been tuned up. I did not have a Bravo 28P. Instead it was a labbed Bravo 26P I picked up from B Blades. It was a short lived experience as I "rocked it" in the "witches" on Lake Winni 2 years ago during our summer drought. I did really enjoy the overall performance of it though. It felt much quicker to plane and topped out at 70-71 on the GPS. When I say short lived, well I think i had two or three trips on it so I have yet to plunk down another thousand bucks for a replacement. That day also cost me a new lower unit. At least Progressive Insurance kicked in 4 grand, they didn't didn't seem to want to put any extra in for the prop!! Go figure, replacement value and labbed props are a long way apart on the pay scale apparently. If I can make it to the lake more than 8 times this summer, perhaps I will change the prop again. Instead, I'll probably start looking at something with twice the maintenance costs! The resale value probably won't be any higher with a labbed Bravo. The 29 seems to struggle a bit when you bounce on and off plane. If you get some cavitation under you, it seem easier to slow down and start again. she wants to idle or be moving fast just not stuck in between.

I have an 05 w/575. Test report said 81. That was in summer conditions at factory. I know they have tested them at 84. I’ve had ours 81 a few times. Runs 80 most of the time. But even with full load and people I can always get 75-78. I’m running a 30p. I know the 525 boats do best with 28p

This is good to know
i think a freshen up of the top end can’t hurt, can’t get the other owner on the phone so I’ll just run this 26 p
see where I end up.
If I can’t pull 5400 I know something is not right, we’ll see Friday

Based on what I've read and discussed with Eddie Young, if that 525 has 400 hours - you are at great risk running that engine. Rocker failures, spring failures, etc are common. There are recipes that will fix you up, fortunately. I'd suggest calling someone in the know and getting repairs or advice on the repairs, as they are very likely needed (and overdue).

I actually emailed him, waiting for his response, most likely be the same as yours

HI guys I am new to this forum and just bought a new-to-me 2003 29' Fever with a 525 EFI, 400 hours.
I took it out today with 3/4 fuel 4 people, has the stock 28P prop.
Is it normal for top speed to be 72mph and 4850 RPM maxed out with that set up, in fresh water?
I am wondering if its down on power is all.
Thanks
