So we did a compression test #3 was only at 95psi, therefore the culpret of the low RPM with the 28Prop.
Put on the 26 however and did 73 mph @ 5200 RPM 1/2 tank 3 people
last time i am going to do these RPM until the engine gets freshened up.
Thanks for everyones replies

From: Oakville ON.
Petrocanada
I assume you are in Canada with your 29 Fever
Would you message me your location as I have a 1998 - 29' on Lake Ontario that I just bought in the fall
I boat out of Oakville.
Perhaps we could share some info.
Mine has twin 454s with 85 hours. It is like new.

With no other bolt ons, after the top end refresh you should look into having the ecu reflashed and tuned on a dyno. They can easily get 560-570hp out of a stock 525efi. I have a built 500efi that is 600hp in my 29. With a fresh stock 525 you should run 77-80 mph in good conditions. I can achieve best top speed 28p bravo1 in my boat but the 26p accelerates like crazy in a city block and easily bounces off the rev limiter at 5450rpm. Looking into turning a 26p up to a 27 this winter.

Awesome!! Looking forward to your results come spring. I’m no expert by any means but am always testing different props and such, feel free to reach out if you have any questions. My suggestion, find one of the good prop slip apps on your phone, and do your testing. The numbers don’t lie!

I have a 2000 29 Fever with a 500efi. I’m in the process of freshening up the interior and paint this winter followed by a motor upgrade next winter. 800 hrs on the Motor with 2 top end refreshes (last one 300hrs ago). Looking to bring it up to 600-700 hp - any recommendations on the best way to get there?
IMCO scx will do the trick.
600-700 hp is above the limits to a stock merc XR.
So go whipple charger for the 500efi then the IMCO outdrive and you’re good for a few seasons.
Before that whipple goes on make sure that engine has new components, at least on the top end.
I just rebuilt my entire 525EFI in September, it’s like a new boat now. Honed to 509” everything has been replaced except block and crank.
Good luck
