Default 1998 Fountain 29' Fever

Anyone with experience with a 1998 29' Fever with 454s care to comment on performance and handling as well as cockpit and engine room space. 26P props.
Found one with just over 100 hours for sale.
I run on Lake Ontario and have a 1999 29' Fountain CC now - non stepped hull on CC
Going to a go fast.
Thx in advance for your views.

May not be getting any replies because the comparison between 27s, 29 twin/singles, and 32s has been beat to death in the fountain forum. Do a search and you may find what you are looking for. I don’t care to share my .02 cents.

I have a 2000 32 with 502s. Friend has a 96 with 454s. Steps and styles changed somewhat over the years. I believe they see low 70s.

Comparing mine and theirs, cockpit and bilge are the same, which is tight! Cockpit I don’t mind but the bilge is tough to do anything in.
Cabin you lose the wrap around couch.

I have one, its a 1997 with procharged 454's. Its been a great reliable boat. Came from a 27 fountain with single 502 before. Cockpit is same size as many others, engine compartment has some room until you add prochargers! I think it handles very well compared to my 27 and docking with twins is way better. What else do you want to know.

Zack
My main concern is with the stock 454 MPIs with no extra charger power.
Is it the right setup or does it need extra charge.
I am not really worried about top end speed for me but if it is underpowered then resale might be an issue as I don't keep my boats too long.
Also how will they handle the boat getting on plane with 26Ps.

I have a 1999 Fountain 29' CC now with twin 200s so I know how the non stepped fountain hull works.
This 98 Fever has one step.
I have had singles and twins in the past up to a 36' cruiser so I know the handling ability of twins.

I know the space in the engine bay is crowded. My mechanic can deal with that.
Cockpit seems better than the 27 or 32.

I used to own a 98 29 with 454 EFIs single step with Hydromotive 26s ran 74 WOT cruised at 50-55 all day long. Cockpit area is sorta small but I was ok with it. The 2 things that bugged me the most was it sat really low in the water at the stern. Some actually thought it was sinking. And the damn water that was always accumulated under the cabin area step. Something to remember is that access down into the engine area is extremely tight. I hope you are a small guy. Just to change the plugs was an all day event. My advise if you have to have a Fountain, Buy a 35 the ride is so much better. I did and never looked back.

Why did the water accumulate under the cabin area step. Where did it come from.
Rain or water hose when washing or from a leak in the stern.
I know the engine room is cramped to say the least

Tell me about your 35
[email protected]

I am in Canada (Ontario) and buying from the US can be a problem these days with our low dollar, sales tax on the Cdn $ value of the sale and the new 10% tariff on boats coming into Canada from the US
That being said if the deal is right it can be done.
I am also looking at a 35 Formula Fastech and a 35 Cigarette Cafe (1 of 10 model) in Canada now.
Both 2000s.
I see your's is a 2000 also, A Lightning.
Tell me about it.

I have a friend who will be selling his 2000 29 with a single hp500efi. Runs just over 70 and way easier to work on. 350 fresh water hours and the top end was done. Boat is very clean comes with a trailer. 35k and he is right across the st Lawrence river in Clayton NY. Will have more pics and info after this weekend. This is probably the easiest boat to resell when it's time everyone wants them and wants them with a single 500 or 525.

As of right now the only place that I have my 35 listed is Facebook Marketplace Port Deposit Maryland area. But its a 2000 twin 500 EFIs that where COMPLETELY rebuilt. They were rebuilt by ______ who builds engines for a living and for 2 race car teams. One motor has a brand new block and heads. About 65 hours and counting on motors and 591 on the hull. Patriot graphics. 13 speaker stereo system. Pacific brand triple axle aluminum trailer. Stored inside when not in use and all maintenance is done by me. Im pretty anal on how things are done on my stuff. $75000
