Kewl! Pictures are great. Keep them coming.
My boat's in the shop right now also getting the bottom the once over. But not near what your is.

Aren't they supposed to be blueprinted from Fountain when made?

StrikinLightnin 11-24-2003 10:21 PM

US1 Fountain

On my boat starting with the step closest
to the bow,the edges progressively get sharper,
BUT not as sharp as they're gonna be..:D :p
Also keep in mind that my old girl has a few years
on her.
The hull has definatley taken a different shape than when it first was pulled out of the mold.

Cool shots! I can see a lot of work goes into blueprinting. Is a 6 foot straight edge long enough to see if the running surface is flat? I was told that you should go 12 foot or more. 12 feet seems like a lot to me but I would be interested in hearing what your Gel Guy thinks. Maybe next time I can make the trip with you.
Dan

From the looks of the edges of the graphics, It looks like a '96 42' Lightning

StrikinLightnin 11-26-2003 01:43 AM

Yep:) Yep:) Yep:)

It's a '96 42' Lightning;)

Back4More 11-26-2003 11:36 AM

Wow, looks like you found some slow me down spots there.
I was always considering doing something like that but don't know where.
PM Me with a cost of something like that....wonder if it would help a conventional bottom too.

Cool project! Your 42 is going to be better than new by summer.

Dan

StrikinLightnin 12-03-2003 08:22 AM

Thanks Dan,

I've decided that since the boat
is already over there and the side windshield
panels are off,
I'm going to pull the interior and have
all the cracks repaired around the windshield
and race hatch area.

When Fountain installed the windshield,
the screw holes weren't chamfered.
This allowed the 'glass to crack.

:doggy:
