Default 1" or 2" shorty??

i have a 2000 35 classic with 500 hp carbed motors with labed 27 hydro"s motors turn 5300 to 5400 rpm at84 to 86 on speedo. what would a 1" or 2" shorty do for me?? thanks in advance for any ideas or opinions!

I had a 98 35 single step hull; I set my old boat up with Imco 2" shortened drives, I did gain top end speed but be extremely cautious of over trimming the boat with the shortened drives.

I would recommend a 1" shortened drive or add a 1 " spacer to the 2" shortened drive and experiment on what works for you.

Too short of an X-dimension and the boat could hook on you if you are not careful.

thanks for the info fountaindriver how much top end did you pick up? do you think the change in drives were worth it?
