That's a fine piece of hardware. Spend some time (and $) on it now, and you'll love it for years.

Update, after talking to a few experienced fellows they recommend to rebuild the 525sc, they say that the 502's will disappoint me, I just have to find a reliable shop who can rebuild and fine tune the blowers on a sea trial, I have tried to get some info from Fountain but they say that their records do not go back to 1990, Does anyone out there have a1990 36/38 fever with 525sc if so i would appreciate a bit of info..
What speed can one get to with the 525sc
What size are the fuel tanks
What is the weight of the boat
The boat came with two sets of props, any info or indication what the difference is between the two sets
1st set that is on the boat, 4 blade Stern Driver Mach 145x26
2nd set Chopper style 3 blade casting # 48-74603-25

Thanks again for all your help, with all the help and knowledgeable people I feel a lot more comfortable with this project

I have a very similiar boat and mine came from Fountain with 454Mags and bravo drives. The test sheets from Fountain say 65mph @ 5100rpm (this is from memory so I could be wrong). The 454's were replaced with 502Mag EFI (415HP) before I bought it and now I am doing 65MPH (by GPS) @ about 46-4700 RPM. I am sure that with some prop tuning I could squeeze a little more but the boat NEEDS MORE POWER!!!!

Good luck,

Todd

My 36/38 non-step Fever seems a lot better with the 4 blade turning out. I ran about the same speed with the Mirage 25 and Hydro 24 at the same RPM.

I ran 4 blade hydromotive's on my 1990 35Lightning.
The midrange speed increased dramatically.
Most noticable was the stern lift the 4blade hydro's allowed.
Instead of the boat plowing through the water with Mirage props the boat would run on top of the water.
Very pleasing ride!

downtown, i got with my 502's when stock about 450+ hp mid to high 70's spinin 25 hydros, spinin out. hated the way it handled spinin in.. i was pullin 5150-5200. i tried every prop combo..

i then upgraded the motors to according to teague 550 hp and spun 28 hydros to 5100 and was low 80's
i tried / bought mirages bravo 1's sterndrivers..
bravo 1s and hydros best all around.. i think mirages a tad faster but gave up too much everywyere else.
the bravos felt good in calm flat water but the hydros better in rough and all around..
i have a pair of labbed down 30 bravo 1s that were good,, the props that i left on the boat when fasboats florida powerboats randy sweers shop got are beutifull labbed 28 hydros if u can try to get your hands on those. i screwed up letting those go but i felt that the boat was dialed with them wheels..
do merlin heads, teagues step up from hp 500 cam and dart intake etc and u will gain some mph
i also have standoff boxes that i was going to install as that is the easiest 2-4 mph gain handles better raises x etc..
i will give u a deal on em if u interestd... thats the ticket for your boat ..
heads
cams
intakes
boxes
props
= 85,, that is what i was told prob gonna be 10- 15k by the time u are done but still naturally aspirated turn key ans would feel like a 38 fountain in the rough..
just a thought
we are all crazy huh..
