Sunday was a great day. Went to SBI boat races in NY harbor. Volunteered my boat, they used it as a rescue boat . I had a doctor, nurse, and race saftey chief on board. Ran the boat up and down the middle of the corse while the race was in full swing. Wow !!! Also met Reggie Fountain on the docks. What a nice guy. Took pictures with me on my 35. After race my friends and I partied hard at the Light Ship .
Great day had by all.

Great shots...

Steve tells me that he got a personal thank you from Reggie for buying a Fountain.I guess Steve's reputation as an educated consumer preceeded him..

Re: New York Metro Fountain Owners

I will be there along with some of my co-workers.
See you there ....

Duncan and Steve should call me at work. 631-728-0286. Mercury Racing just released an update to the HP525 ECM that eliminates most of the black soot off of the transom and keeps your engine oil cleaner.

Cool Re: New York Metro Fountain Owners

Hey Guys

This past week has been incredible on the water... Low humidity, light breeze and sunny skies... And No boat traffic !!! September is the best boating month....

I took off every afternoon to spend some quality time on the bay with my Fountain.... I love the boat......

Thanks again Steve, for loaning me the oil change pump.. It was a 5 minute pump out with the attachment I made up..

I don't know why Mercury has the filter upside down...I used a bleach bottle cut the top off and kept the spill to a minimun...

Vinny,

What are the dates of the Tobay show???

Also:

Is that new release a download upgrade to the ecm or a swap out ?????

Let's stay alive on this thread !!!!

Tobay is October 2,3, 9, 10, 11 .

The upgrade is kinda a swap. i must send your ecm to mercury racing they reprogram it and send it back. Turnaround time is approx 3-4 days.

Duncan,

I agree with the upside down oil filter issue! I punch a hole in the filter prior to removal which allows the trapped oil to drain into the pan, cuts down (but does not totally eliminate) the amount of oil that runs out when the filter is unscrewed. What type of attachment did you make for the oil change? I use a vacuum style (not electric) oil canister to remove the oil but have never been able to get more than 4 qts. out of the sump. I tried the drain tube that you pull out of the bilge thru the transom drain...near useless. In all my years of boats I never have been able to get all the oil out of an engine.

Hope to see you soon...maybe Tobay?

I pump the oil hot then wait a day to remove the filter. Cold oil = thick oil. thick oil doesn't leak and spill everywhere.
