Prices WTF !!!

WTF! Fountain !!!!!
35L w/525s = 210K 93mph
38L w/525s = 225K 88mph
42X w/525s = 225k 83mph
We need to get rid of the pricing guy. 7 feet of boat for only 15k more..... why wouldnt I buy a 42X? (other than the fact it is a big MoFo and it wont fit in my future garage that is going to be 42' !)

I've noticed that with many manufacturers. It seems there is a void in the 120-180 range. It seems the largest price jump is 30/31/32 feet to 35 feet. Fountain, Sonic, AT, you name it.

If you think about it, the difference between a 35 and 42 is just the raw cost of some fiberglass and leather, and some more aluminum for extra tank capacity... both have same 2 motors, controls, bolsters, cockpit parts, etc. This may be an over simplification, but you get the point.
I'd look at it from the other direction, why not save yourself $15k... and go 10mph faster!
Cheers,
Brian

The 35X and 42X are the best bang for your buck right now. The 42 X and LT are bascially identical to most people. For those of you who are experts, don't yell at me. I mean most people, not all.

Hey Bern.
The 35X w/ 496 MAG and all standard equip (paint in the catalog, etc.) was advertised all this year for 149,995. I was told about a month ago by Reggie that the price was going up to 159,995 for '05. Now--- the boat was on SALE at Lauderdale for 186K!
I am still trying to figure it out. At this point I am going with the pricing I have and would say you should be able to buy the boat at 159 w/ silent choice option.

Masher,
I think your numbers for pricing and speeds are right on. Yes, the best deals today are on the 35X and the 42X. However, if you are looking for a 35 or 38 with 525's you are out of luck. Have to pay high price for Lightning or find used, which not many out there today. Fountain has a gap here, but I don't see them filling it anytime soon. They just raised prices and i guess the factory is very busy with new orders so if all of this is true-- they won't change anything....
