10 mph gain @ 3500 wow, most guys I boat with will have to keep it to the pins just to keep up to your cruise speed. - I'm going to have to look into a set of those -

The 35 Single step with 525sc's we HAD DID 84mph.

I'm a fan of Hydro props, especially on a Fountain. Bravo props tend to be a bow-lifting prop, and Fountains carry their bow well on their own. The Hydro (specifically the Quad IV) is a stern-lifting prop, so the combo of the Fountain carrying it's own bow, plus the Hydro lifting the stern makes the whole boat run "looser' in the water, less wetted surface, more speed. I'd try a set of stock 28" Quad IV's. If you like how they feel, spend the extra $$ to fine tune them with labbing or extra pitch. I think the rule of thumb is to shoot for 10-12% slip. Matt and Julie at Throttle-Up are whizzes with props, and I highly recommend their work for your fine tuning. I'm still not convinced spinning "in" is worth what you give up overall. I've not heard of much more gain than 1mph or so, plus handling goes to chit, more so around the docks. I spin mine "out", race it, poker run it, play on it with my lady, and have no complaints how it handles. 10-meter with no steps, 83+change, with 525hp, 28" Hydros. Cheers, Brian |
Re: 35 (Single step) owners -speed#'s
I'd like to try a set of Hydros - (before I waste more money) - my best run was with 32 pitch bravos so far.

Re: 35 (Single step) owners -speed#'s
32" Bravos... you might try a set of 30" Hydros, and tweek from there.
I'm itching to see my numbers this year, too. I've bumped up my motors to 600+, so prop adjustments are in order. I'm going to run my 28's and get a baseline, and go from there. Cheers, Brian |
