Wouldn't consider buying a boat without a test drive. And no I'm not going to give a deposit or sign shzit. If someone needs a proof of financial means to be able to afford the purchase, fine. This is always the tough part about selling a boat. Who's serious & who's just kicking tires.

Usually, anyone willing to travel a distance is not kicking the tires. And as much as some owners would like to get a deposit, or agreement in place prior to a test drive, I would love to be able to recoup $'s for time spent, gas, and airline tickets to look at misrepresented pieces of crap.

If someone is interested, i'm happy to take them out for a short run. But, I do all the driving. I have never had a problem demonstrating how a boat handled, or performed.

My only rule is that if we set a time to meet, I'll give you up to (15)minutes to be late without calling. After that f-it, i don't wait around for buyers that don't show, or can't bother to call.

hmmm this is really a tough controversial deal,,
i have bought both my 35 fountains without test rides i bought the 28 sleekcraft without a testride. the bigfatazz cruiser we bought i drove as i didnt have a clue what would be like and if i would even like it// nautique i drove as i wanted to make sure all was ok but after we landed a price etc..
28 bayliner i bought no test,, and most others no test drive..

our nautique i am selling as i never use and need the hoist for new boatl, and i am getting bs tire kickers,,,
took two stooges for a ride on sat. even drove down to the lot where trailer is stored and they measred and chit,, i finally told em look i have no more time you want it you said its the nicesst best riding etc and would be perfect, whats the deal u gonna make an offer and they backpeddled i asked why what is the problem if u like it why not buy it? thats what i do... you just spent 2 hrs drivin here 3 hrs here what are u doing..
response well we want to make sure so we are planning on takin g the nest 2 or 3 weeks to lllook at everything avail.. we are interested and if we dont find a better one for less we will buy yours//
i was sooo mad at my self for letting em take my time that if or when they call back i am gonna say not for sale or its sold,,
gauranteed best deal around ... foools//
but i dont care,.
i know i have a bad attitude

Jonas , I kinda agree with you. The last three boats I bought no ride. I had in my mind thats what I wanted and struck a deal and bought. David

I made a deal with disneyland! I don't give rides and they don't sell boats! Just kidding, If they can buy, I will give them a ride.Ask them lots of questions first to qualify them as a buyer. That's why brokers get 10% It's not as easy as you think. In the end sometimes it's better to trade it in.
