Fastest 30-32 V bottom w/stock power
 

Thinking about making the switch back to V bottom's, sick of the insurance woes. Looking for a 30-35 V bottom, I really like the looks of the 32' Sunsation but what do you guy's think?

There is a 32 Sunsation w/ a Whippled 500EFI running mid 80's here on the Hudson. Nice boat.

If your looking for something in that range I would take a look at some of the west coast builders like Nordic and Lavey Craft. I think alot of the West coast companys build some awsome boats in that size range but are often overlooked by east coast boaters. Howars is another one to look into. they build a single engine 28 that does like 108 I think with a wippled HP500.

You don't need a wippled 500 to run in the 80's with a 30 foot boat. How about a 29'6" boat with STOCK 496HO / XR with an extended 5 year warranty that runs into the 80's???? Wan't to go for a ride? :drink: Dave Warden

P.S. I 2nd the 32 Sunsation motion,,, will run mid 80's, great combination of cockpit and cabin space, awesome looks and styling and customer service second to NONE !!..

I ran in a Superboat Y2K this weekend...30' with a 496 HO...74.1 mph. Really nice boat.

Have you considered a Powerplay(it might be hard to get a new one). I love mine and it is fast with stock power, juice it up a bit and I would say no one could keep wwith you in that size class. Just my $.02

Yes it is !!! 80's are NO problem and that is the pleasure boat with 1200 watt stereo, 2 amps, Dana Hatch, etc.... Honest. I will reveal pretty soon. We were really surprised. We knew it would be fast but the numbers are unbelievable. Dave

You won't regret a Sun! Build quality, better than west coast lake boats. Opps, who said that? Thats not nice. Truth hurts though.

Do your best to test drive a 32 Sunsation, that will sell ya!

Do you want single or twin engine? Big difference in what you look at. If you want single I'd look at Superboat. Probably the biggest single and still very fast. Most 30'ers need twins to run the same.

Not really, I looked at it at the Miami show last year and it was definitely competetivly priced. Also, I thought the sleekest looking boat there.

I would have to look at the all new 322 Velocity. It will be available in early July and with 496 mags will be a mid 80 mph boat and with 525's will run in the low to mid 90's.
Very impressive to say the least.

I have a friend with a 32 Sunsation with twin non H.O. 496's. Great boat and runs an honest 80 mph withthat power. Great factory service also.

Ken has a Sonic SS30 that did 94 MPH with Procharged 502s I believe.

Nice boat, but then I am biased as I have the same boat with Scorpions. Rides great in the rough, tough boat too.

I am guessing a 37' Outerlimits is fastest if price is no object.

32 Ative Thunder. My '99 with 500 efi's runs hard and fast, crushes lake chop and swell, solid ride and you feel safe in the cockpit, lot of boat around you.

344 Hustler is expensive if you look at showpieces where they try to do something very different ie. turbo motors, arneson surface drives, special paint and exotic fabrics...

However if you look at a stock boat with 496s, which is still a great boat, I believe it's competitive.

Do you at least have a year preferance? Some of these boats are 10 years old. What do you what? Price, hours, year???

32 Hustler, 30 Sonic, great boats but I think both are at least 10 year old models, or close. If your going that old, great. But if not, tell us.

I'm going the opposite way, ordered a cat.. My 2002 32' sunsation with vortech superchargers runs over 100mph with a full cabin ,a/c ref./and more.Call if your interested. 214-538-5385.

A friend of mine has a 2003 Velocity 32' twin 496's runs 85mph.

A 32 velocity with 496 hos will run 82-85 any day. Now the new 30 should run faster.

You've seen some great suggestions being made. It sounds as though you, (like me) are looking for a "Hot Rod" with twins. I've looked hard at the size range you've mentioned. If you're looking at used, I'm always a fan of the 33 PowerPlay and the 32 Active Thunder, with a very close honorable mention to the 32 Sutphen. If water conditions are questionable, these are tried n true unbeatable boats. If you're looking at new, easy choice. I'd go with the new 32 Sunsation Innovator with the new deck. I crawled in this boat top to bottom-front to back-inside n out and was extremely impressed with the fit, finish, and overall build quality. Not to mention the fact that Sunsation is probably the best in the business for Customer satisfaction. I'll also give an honorable mention to the new Active Thunder/Chief 33 with the new step hull. If the guys at Chief can carry on the Active Thunder tradition of build quality, yet add better customer relations, this could/should be a real contender for the Sunsation. I'd be real anxious to run one to see what it can do.

Ya, I'm leaning towards the 32 Sunsation, at least a 2002 or newer. I just hate getting rid of my 28' Daytona I've got it just they way I want it. Not to mention loosing the stability a cat gives you. But those insurance rates a tough to swallow.
