I think it probably depends on what you mean by fraud, if it's something that makes the boat unsafe(say a boat that was damaged and not repaired correctly) then most definitely they should be told if it's just that the motors don't make the horsepower stated in the adds it probably doesn't matter. If it was fraud by the previous owner then you should tell them in a timely matter so they can take any legal recourse available to them.

The best thing that I have found to do in these situations is tell em what you know, if they argue then leave it alone. You aint a friend if you don't try and tell em though.

It's not a friend of mine, just a guy I met.
But I'd have to see the boat to make sure its the one i'm thinking of. Also, its not a safety issue. Since he aint on the boards... The boat was advertised for some time as a pantera. It was brought up in the pantera forum a few times, and it is not a pantera. It has the wrong VIN numbers and other details pointed out by Jo and Pepe themselves. It's just the guy thinks he has a pantera and its not. That's all. He seems pretty pumped with what he's got. I really don't want to spoil it for him, and its not like I'll really see him ever. He only paid 7-8k for it, so he probably doesnt have much recourse w/ the previous owner. And that guy may have thought it was a pantera, unless one of us from here told him otherwise. One last question. How can you register the boat as "pantera" if the vin# on the hull isn't? |
