I like the trophy idea. Maybe one for hard luck, first boat to a certain card stop, best dressed crew, worst dressed crew, skimpiest bikini 
best engine compartment.
A vidio camera while handing out cards at a stop might be cool.

keep the coast guard dicks from harrassing your members.
in n.o. you can't go to yeagers or the dock without getting stopped. they set up blockades & wait for boaters to leave.
it's not fun getting boarded & searched like your entering cuban waters. now that i've vented shoot lots of video & play it back at the party. everybody likes to see there boat on film. good luck

Don't spend all the video time on the DVD on a certain select number of boats... not to slam "someone" too hard, but the SOTW run seems to concentrate on several boats, while MANY boats never even show up on the video... like the boat I was in last year... not in one frame of the video.
Good food is a must.
Good prizes are a bonus.
Manageable entry fee (sounds like your's is)
