What makes a great Poker Run?

Value for the money, if a PR cost $200 a person, give them a damn nice dinner and a fun party.
Personally I would rather do it cheap eat hotdogs and meet other boaters, at the end of the day the people make it fun.

Don't be too hard on Marc. He told me after the run last year that he got some great shots of the Checkmate and I should go take a look at them.
They were some awesome shots of "A" Checkmate but not of mine. When I told Marc it wasn't mine
he almost fell over. I'm not even sure the other Checkmate was in the run but just running along.
I guess he didn't think I could be that far out in front.
Hopefully the Sonic will be a little easier to spot this year.

I can relate to all of this because I am organizing my first event here in Georgia. Last year I assisted FPC in organizing their event and it can be stressful. The best part of the event as a organizer is the end of the day. I think Powerboat magazine listed a Poker run organizer as one of the top 10 worst jobs in the marine industry a whlie back. My biggest problems so far are aquiring sponsorship and determining what to charge participants. If you live in the south check us out at www.cocktail-cove.com (shameless plug!!!)

Lots of great ideas.
For me video footage has become very important. Ever since I saw my boat running on a video for the first time I have been hooked on video. I think a well put together DVD can really make the difference between a run being good or great. It is nice to get a DVD in the mail a few months after a Poker Run to remember all the fun from that weekend.
