There wasn't ever a law about the 65 mph cap,, it was an agreement between the manufacturers and the coast guard, not to exceed 65,, never a law.. That agreement has now expired,, but truth be told there is only one stock ski that actually breaks 65 and that is the rxp, which does between 67-70,, My 99 modded kawi ultra 150 does 68 and my 03 ultra 150 does 66...

I highly doubt you will ever see much over 70 from stock pcw's,, it takes kawi about 200-250 hp to reach the 70's and sea-bomb's 215 to barely hit 70,, so unless these guys start comming out with close to 300 hp ski's it isn't gonna happen..

True. But the I would have never thought when I bought my 95' Waveraider1100 that skis would actually make it to 215 stock. Plus now that they are supercharging it, it's a matter of time before they boost em up (if they are not already doing so). 83 is scary on a ski, but probably very fun.

My Ultra has hit 68 on GPS and i've been EJECTED at full speed on several occasions,, it's just plain PAINFUL.....

Jet pumps are VERY in-efficient,, it takes TONS of HP to make speed. Even with supercharging and turbo's, most ski's are still in the low 60's with the exception being the RXP which is in the high 60's. boost increases for the majority of skis will still only get them into the mid to high 60's. which is still PLENTY fast for an 11 footer..

Per the title of this post, here's an actual 83 MPH Yamaha Waverunner. Since this video, this ski has run 85.2 MPH! It's a big bore, triple-piped 2-stroke.

Last I heard, the owner of outback steak house held / holds the PWC speed record on a HIGHLY modified yamaha gpr 1200,, stated he had over 50 grand invested in the ski and hit mid 80's on a two run pass...

Yes, Riva Motorsports built that Waverunner. With the owner on board, it ran 87.5 MPH during an official APBA sponsored event. Unofficially, I heard that it broke 90 MPH with a different rider.

In 1998 My wife and I had two gp 1200 waverunners .
we enjoyed them very much .but with two girls it became hard to go boating . The two thing that I remember the most was how great it was to ski salom behind . They put up next to nothing for a wake
so for those of you that haven't tried it put that power to use and ski behind them you will be impressed . second everyone that doesn't have one hates them. just the way I remember it .
