Default Barge homes

No Sterlings so go ahead and move if necessary.......

Curious if anyone owns a barge home. Been thinking seriously of building one for year round living. Buying 2 slips and put the boat on a hoist next door.

Went through this one a few years ago... hardwood floors, stainless appliances, a real bathroom, heat pump system etc... Thinking of a bit larger one but staying with a 15-20ft x 50ft platform. Just the two of us. No property taxes... Things to think about, suggestions, would be appreciated..... Joe

Saw a bunch of these in Washington DC. Never seen them before, but with no kids, why not. I understand alot of marinas won't allow them so check that out first!

Can I have dibs on your lawn mower!

Wasn't Seattle overrun with those?
And didn't Seattle recently ban the constructiuon of new barge communities?

I doub't you could tow it anyplace and tie up. Aren't they usually in a dedicated community?
Looks like a cool way to live, but in a Florida hurricane I wouldn't want to around it.
