ouch
cruiser wake damage?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INSUR...QQcmdZViewItem The former owner of this boat states that he was operating at high speed when he encountered the wake of a large cruiser on Lake Winnipesaukee. As a result of the impact, the boat was severely damaged and sank in approximately 30 feet of water. |
Re: ouch
That's terrible.
Salvage the motors and drives, the rest is toast. |
Re: ouch
Yeah looks like it his a crusier wake then they towed it home without a trailer.
|
Re: ouch
musta been on hell of a cruiser

I'll be the first to say it... "some duct tape and JB weld - Good as new..." |

Maybe "wake of a large cruiser" what they call the loch nest monster at Lake Winnipesaukee :D |
Re: ouch
That is un-f'ing-believeable! That "cruiser" must have been more like a cruise ship.

Re: ouch
WOW! That is the same boat I have except it has 454's instead of 502's. I was in 4-5 foot cruiser wakes this weekend (40mph) and didn't feel as if anything like that could happen.
Wonder how the driver/ passengers faired? |
Re: ouch
40 is not high speed! looks like he was wfo when he hit a six or 7 footer and launched it...that is the end result. the moral of the story is don't hit 6 or 7 footers wfo unless you have an old school cig :D i mean that turd came unglued in a big way

Re: ouch
im still trying to figure out how he did it.
to fast , overtrimmed, land on swim platform? talk about an "oh chit" moment when time slows down right before the pain!!!!!!!! |
Re: ouch
I like the throttles still being WFO!!!, and whats up with one drive trimmed out further than the other? Man, I wouldn't even want it for the motors now that they sat so long.

Re: ouch
looks like he stuff the boat on the side
|
Re: ouch
You guys are crazy, that'll all buff out!! :D :evilb: :drink: :evilb:

yup, been doing that in the Top Gun all race season long and takes it like a champ |
Re: ouch
Hey Formula Is A Goood Solid Boat.......???????????????????
|
Re: ouch
I think they mean it was hit by a cruise missle.
|
Re: ouch
I would have expected a Formula to have the shoe box seam glassed. Looks like it was just bonded. The wrecked donzi in a thread a couple weeks ago came apart at the deck seam also and didn't look to be glassed. I had just assumed it of builders of such good reputations.

Re: ouch
WTF! Someone isn't telling the WHOLE truth come on lets be realistic

I would of thought it would of held up better than that:eek:  |
Re: ouch
Thats what I say also, there is more to this story, no way one boat wake could do this. Those are well built boats, they can take a good pounding, this looks like pounding some big waves. If that all happend at one time they are very very very lucky to be alive.
|
Re: ouch
Hey... at least he's upfront about the condition...the story...well... that's a different story...

"Garage Kept" .......wonderful....

Re: ouch
Hey be nice now...I wasn't jamming on formulas...

Re: ouch
All of that damage did not occur from one wave. What you are looking at is the final blow that put the boxer on the mat. The years of abuse finally did her in.

Re: ouch
Some of that damage must have occured during the salvage. Maybe they dragged the boat to shore instead of floating it up and towing it in????

I know I've launched off six footers in my old 89' 311, and all I got was a good "teeth jarring".
That looks like it got dropped off a very high bridge. |

Ouch is right! WTF? I can't believe how that boat just unzipped like that!
|
Re: ouch
I would of thought they would of at the very least used a lot of Plexius and through bolt the seam. I just see a little bit of the bonding goop and no through bolts.
|
Re: ouch
Not impressed, I don't care what happened.
|
Re: ouch

Attached Images 39_3.jpg (61.2 KB, 22 views) Hard to believe a cored hull is as strong as a full layup. I've seen a lot of pictures showing seperation between the coring and whatever layup. ed |
Re: ouch
Should have bought an old Fountain. That would NEVER happen
Are they sure they didn't drop a cruiser ON it? |
Re: ouch
Appears to be more to the story, then the reader's Digest version on E-Bay. Can't believe all that damage came from hitting a cruiser wake. My old Formula could take more of a beating than your body could take.
