I own a 26ft eliminator cat,i boat with alot of guys who have v bottoms in the same size range, I personally prefer a cat when speed is a issue in rough water

3 footers mostly, some 4s, depending on which way your going,sideway rollers can get scary in a cat , i try to avoid them, a friend of mine hit a 3ft side roller in a 27ft velocity v bottom at 75mph,when the boat landed it hooked hard left and ejected him and his wife, they both were seriously injured

They all can be dangerous if not driven within limitation of boat. at lower speeds up to 70mph the v bottom typically will be better ride, and safer if you tuck drives andd use a little tab, when you start trying to run hard in a v bottom boat becomes very unstable. In big waves and mixed up wash a cat with good beam and at speed high enough to get air under it will go right over the waves . At 100 mph the cat is where I would rather be, more comfortable and safer.

I prefer a cat in 3-4's in confused water over the V. Softer ride but you have to be running 50-60 mph or you'll be beat up. I went from 38 Scarab with 500's to 30 Motion with outboards. My wife could drive with no problem in the cat and has a bad back.

the spectre w/300's will do great on st.clair! u will be very amazed how well it's going to preform in those conditions!

I too own a 26 eliminator daytona and I was at lake of ozarks a couple of weekends ago in 4 foot chop and it beat us to death! The v bottoms were passing us by. I still will never own a v bottom again after having a cat.
