I think you would have to correlate casting code along with the date code to verify that they are . As far as what they are worth, to a guy in the know they are just a pair of low compression LS6 engine with blowers, Maybe $15-20K There is a pair of 800HP blown BBC in the classifieds for $16K. The factory Hi-po stuff was nice 20 years but today there are better components for the same price if not cheaper.

thank you Sir- that was the last piece of the puzzle - anyone know if there is any difference at all in the 420 merc and the LS6 except for the fact merc put better rockers and pushrods in the LS6 they bought from Chevy??

keep in mind the 800 hp units up for sale are they used ? these motors have never been fired up -- that would add some value wouldn't it? oh and the cams are gm cams I listed the part number - as far as better parts today?? I don't think so - yes if we are talking about ordering a velasco crankshaft fot 4 grand - then yes - far superior- but I would take one of these motors over a current production chevy hp motor any day of the week- that's a no brainer- these were built when America used to build things - now its all the low bid and could care less what country -- the steel crank of 1971 I would bet a lot of money would handle much more hp than the steel crank of today - what do you think?

Crane hyd Flat Tappet 228/236 at .050" and .530/.551 lift with a 114 LSA
H-228/312-2S-14 T1.2 Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft for Chevrolet 1967-1995 V-8, 396-454 H-228/312-2S-14 T1.2 Hydraulic Flat Tappet Camshaft
Static compression 8.75:1
LS6 - both of them - GM Aluminum dual plane intake
Original in car Ls6 : GM 3904362 Solid Lifter 242* at .050" and .520/.520 lift with a 108 LSA
Static compression 11.25:1
Crate LS shared same parts as above LS6 other than cyl heads. Crate LS6 used open chamber heads vs in car closed chamber heads. This lowered compression to approx to approx 10:1

the pullies on these motors come out to either 11 percent over or under - is there anyone here that has solid data on the actual real world numbers this set up could produce as far as horsepower?
question- with 9 to 1 static if these motors were to get a big solid roller camshaft with 700 lift or so - have super chillers on them with the right dedicated pump feeding them - in river water that's 65 degree- on 116 octane race fuel can they be run 11 percent overdriven and what would the numbers look like - im having second thoughts about these engines - I have a couple boats that they would be really fun to put in- -im ready to put them to use - out of my shop - need some solid advice from someone who knows - not really interested in what other stuff puts out that are similar- what could be done with these motors -- I have ignition parts- MSD 7 box and coil- timing retard boxes and a few 6 al boxes and distributors with magnetic pick ups - I think I have a set of 750 holleys and 850 holleys and I have 2 -1050 dominators upstairs as well- thinking about bying a cam set up as big as I can go - spinning the blower as fast as safely possible - I have locally 110 116 E95 and I can get methanol in 55 gallon drums -
I have a 5/8 runner bottom flatty that im thinking one of these would drop in and be a blast - anybody???
